Early on the morning of November 19, Kenneth Chamberlain, a 68-year-old former Marine and retired correctional officer with a heart condition, accidentally set off his LifeAid medical alert pendant while sleeping in his White Plains, New York, apartment. Unable to contact Chamberlain via its two-way audio box, LifeAid called the White Plains Department of Public Safety. Police officers arrived to help Chamberlain 17 minutes later. Instead they ended up killing him.

This is what happens when people trade freedom for security. Police that are trigger happy and feel the need to shoot first. When the guy said he was fine the police should have left. But no, they have to exert their power and create a situation.

well, he WAS a black man (what color cops)

Let me die first. Then send the EMT's and the fireman. No trigger happy police.

Said, and I feel sorry for the family. But, if the people are called to your house and you tell them to go away because you are fine... If they did leave they should be held responsible is there was anything wrong. None of us know what happened in the apartment or the race of the cops. But hey, good job trying to incite another race batting story.

wtf might have happened

Because a person having a heart attack obviously has to be shot!!

And now a fair number of G+ers get their first taste of the Hit & Run commenters...

The world has gone crazy.... no doubt about it.

Moral of the story: Don't approach cops with a knife. The New York Police are a very highly trained group of people, they don't just shoot unarmed people wearing boxers in the chest. This isn't the "Man" trying to get you down. Take a bath, hippies

+Spencer Reese The cops burst into his home, tazed him, and shot him with beanbags. There was surveillance video that something metal was pushed through when the door prior to the cops barging in, about the size of the knife. I don't think it was a "Man" but power-drunk cops that lost their temper. I don't even really believe it was racially motivated, just went into a rage and rational thought process.
