Tips on tackling the changing nature of the AV industry from InfoComm's Dave Labuskes
-*+By Dave Labuskes InfoComm International I love to read. In fact, I maintain what I admitted long ago would be a perpetual reading list. Perpetual, because no matter how much I read, there are more books added to it each month than I can get through. And the books are only part of the list. …

Now on the Blog: I’m very pleased with what the children can do in class and very excited about where Google is going with the Classroom.
-*+My youngest daughter was accepted into a new public charter school to open in the fall of 2014. The school caught our attention because they planned to be a high tech school issuing laptops to all children, as well as use video based learning and very little paper. The summer before opening they asked for …

What do you think, should we still be labeled The AV Market?
-*+I am wondering if we’re doing ourselves a disservice by continuing to label ourselves as the AV market. Yes, I realize that perfectly wraps-up what we do 90 percent of the time, but what about the other 10 percent and, more importantly, what about all the emerging markets we are engaging in that aren’t as …

E-Paper room signs are better than paper for many reasons, and here are the top six.
-*+By Debbie DeWitt Marketing Communications Manager, Visix, Inc. Many schools and businesses use sheets of paper outside meeting rooms to show who’s using the room and when. This isn’t very practical because the staff has to constantly print out paper sheets, take them down when meetings end, and start the whole process again the next …

The Sound Bar vs. The Sound Stand, Mark Coxon reviews.
-*+  For those of you who don’t know me well, my career in AV actually started out on the residential side of the business.  I worked for an integrator in Arizona that did structured wiring, central vacuum, security, and audiovisual systems for home builders like DR Horton, Shea Homes, and Toll Brothers and some custom …

Story

The Number One AV News Source. Period.
Introduction
rAVe [Publications], founded in 1998 by Gary Kayye, is a news organization that provides coverage of the commercial (ProAV) and residential (HomeAV) audiovisual trade industries via e-newsletters, blogs, video, social media, and a variety of other mediums.

The target audience for rAVe’s publications is what we call “AV Insiders” – AV dealers, integrators, consultants, designers, etc. that deal in the sale, specification, design and installation of audiovisual products. We do not target what most people call “end users,” though a small percentage of rAVe’s readers may qualify as such, especially on the ProAV side of things.

rAVe is an opinionated news organization, providing news and commentary that reflect the opinions of its authors. We believe that all news is heavily affected by the views of its author, so we state up front that ours is going to be. We are also heavily biased towards the AV integrator/dealer’s perspective since, well, that’s our audience. However, we do NOT get paid by manufacturers, or anyone, for running off our editorial mouth. We run what we run based on what we think, and that’s it.

So whose opinions are you getting? Want to disagree with someone? Check out our current list of employees and contributors here. Everyone’s individual contact info is listed, and we’d love to hear from you.
