This Giving Tuesday, we're asking if you can give back to those who need our help. Our Broken Wings campaign is aiming to find 1,500 new members to help us be there when we're needed - from making sure veterans are living comfortably to helping a separated parent to spend a precious weekend with their children.

But we need more members to continue making a difference in people's lives. Please join today.

The +RAF Association will be putting cash recovered from a major banking scandal to good use, following the award of almost £500,000 from LIBOR fines to the charity in the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement.

The LIBOR grant will be used to fund a nationwide befriending scheme, which will provide much-needed support to thousands of RAF veterans across the UK. It will pair isolated veterans with volunteers from within their local community, creating new friendships and ensuring no veteran is forgotten.

Left with no job or income after her injuries, the RAF Association was there for Maria. But there are so many others who need our help.

Becoming a member from just £8.50 means we can be there for people like Maria while bringing you great benefits. Please join today so we can be there for them like they were for us.

Join the +RAF Association for less than £2 a month and together we’ll do all this, and more:

- Make over 100,000 welfare visits, contacts and calls every year

- Combat loneliness with befriending and home visits

- Help vulnerable veterans lead safer lives in our sheltered housing and provide respite care hotel stays when times are tough

- Source welfare grants in times of financial hardship

- Help the young children of our serving RAF cope better when their parents are away

The RAF Association is taking part in the national Free Wills Month campaign this October.

Free Wills Month allows you to have an up to date Will written by a solicitor for free. This will ensure that your wishes are respected and it also avoids difficult decisions and legal complications for your loved ones.

We are taking part in Free Wills Month in the hope that, once you have provided for your family and friends, you choose to leave the Association a gift in your Will.

The Royal Air Force features in a new series: Skies Above Britain, starting tonight on BBC Two at 9pm.

The first episode explores how our skies are safeguarded, with air traffic controllers dealing with an unidentified aircraft flying across Gatwick's flight path, and the RAF scrambling a Typhoon jet to intercept an unresponsive plane in a planned exercise.

The episode also features a junior Typhoon pilot going through training and a behind-the-scenes look into life at Royal Air Force Coningsby.

The Ministry of Defence's Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre is appealing for his family to get in touch after his grave site was finally identified over 70 years after he was killed in action.
