Sure, I was QM Tour Guide from 1976—1980, and I love the grand old lady, but my bias is well-founded. Enjoy a fine meal at Sir Winston's on Sun Deck, or pop in to Observation Bar on Promenade Deck, then take a relaxing stroll on Sun Deck and watch the lights of Long Beach sparkle on the bay. I still enjoy showing friends around for unofficial tours of the decks. Stay in a starboard side cabin for a view of the city, or try a port side room to watch one of the world's busiest harbors in action. Good times.

This review is as a tourist of the ship - not as a guest staying overnight. Walking the decks of this historic ship is great. Even without buying a tour, there are shops, restaurants, and great views of the harbour. There are multiple tours to check out, including the "haunted" ones which are great fun and provide interesting pieces of history. They also give you access to parts of the ship you can't see otherwise. The Queen Mary is a fun place to visit! Pro tip - you may have a bit of a walk when parking, especially if arriving later in the day. Check to make sure there aren't any events going on when you plan to visit, they can make your walk from parking even longer!

It's true the Queen Mary is beautiful but for the price of a stay I would expect the bathroom to be much cleaner. Our floor was covered in hair balls, old cotton balls and was even missing tiles. Also maybe reconsider staying with small children, the walls are very thin. Our young children got into a little sibling spat, our two year old began to cry and before I knew it the office was calling and security was up... He tried to calm him as quickly as possible, but then we were on edge all night about any little peep. Unfortunately we felt that way and then had to listen to the neighbors TV and rude patrons talking and slamming doors all night across the hall.

Not worth the money. The place is so commercialized. They want to milk very dollar out of you. It does not feed 1940s at all.

I am just checking out from disappointing experience. I was expecting things old,but they are not old, they are unkept, run down and the new stuff such as tv, light bulbs, sink faucets do not work. I was changed to another room, but things did not get better. The entrance elevators were not working by the time i checked out. They have only one golf cart to take clients from the parking lot to the hotel. Any one who has gone in a cruise knows the hike from parking to ship and from edge of ship to actually a room and no elevators and no carts prepare to haul your luggage. Dirty, bad service, no many things working. Except the restaurant. Good food... not for that money but good food. I do not recommend this hotel. Go another and just visit it for a tour if you are interested

The Web page said free WiFi and parking. Why did I have to pay $20.00 per day parking and $10.00 a day WiFi. The girl at the front desk was rude when I asked about this and basically said "that's what we charge" The bathroom was filthy and airconditioner barely worked. The entire inside of the ship was humid and muggy. Food was extremely over priced. If it wasn't for my mom and her family coming over in 1939 on the Queen Mary I would have checked out when I checked in

Is there an option to rate this a negative 5 stars? WORST hotel stay experience EVER!!! Queen Mary likes to think that a second visit with solve whatever issues caused your bad stay but how is that possible if they wouldn't address them when I was onboard? They wouldn't address them when I wrote to them after my stay? They don't care about anything but your money. My stay was an absolute nightmare, the room was off at the farthest possible point from the front desk. They expect you to know the layout of the ship and look at you like you're stupid when you ask for directions. My room was hot when I got in it, there's no control for the AC and it throws out air so slow through the vents, it literally took hours to somewhat cool the room. The TV reception was horrible as soon as I turned it on, the WIFI was non-existent (even though they charge for it) the bathroom sink was backed up and so I called the front desk to ask for assistance with these things. The only thing they were able to fix was the sink. The TV we just shut off, the non-existent WIFI turned into non-existent phone service in our black hole of a room. We left the hotel for dinner, having to walk way across to the parking lot which was another huge charge for a dark scary lot far far away. If you don't mind lugging your luggage from BFE then it will be fine for you. The staff at the queen mary are like robots, pre-programmed to answer the questions that they know are coming because they know the issues they have and do NOTHING about them. The customer service is terrible, absolutely the worst you could think of and they don't care, they only care about your dollar. They hype up this "ghost" thing like it's an every day occurrence when in actuality it's just another way to get people to pay for a tour or stay onboard. I could go on but please take my word that it's not a good value. You can easily get a real room and much better real hotel nearby in downtown Long Beach with real customer service.

Actually, I did. In March last year I stayed for 5 nights while working on my next novel.  We used the restaurants, took tours and thoroughly enjoyed our cruise to nostalgia .  I even met with  the producer who bought the rights to my first novel. He loved it. Next time in LA  I stop by.
