Looking forward to this chip in the next Nexus product aka Nexus 6. ;) I predict this product hopefully to be announced this June 2014 and the product to start rolling out at the end of 2014 to beginning of 2015. Either way I'm using my Nexus 4 till I get my hands on a Snapdragon 810 64bit processor.

It is critical to achieve sufficient density of the LTE cells so it's important to look at different strategies for achieving this.

The SIGFOX Network (http://www.sigfox.com), which is completely complementary to 3G and LTE, provides the same out-of-the-box experience as 3G & LTE, but by only providing low bandwidth (small messages), it provides the out-of-the-box connectivity at a fraction of the costs and with dramatically lower energy consumption. It also requires much fewer cells and can therefore be deployed much quicker.

We need different types of connectivity and each has it's strengths and weaknesses. WiFi is cheaper than 3G & LTE, but it's limited in range. They're both very energy consuming and relatively expensive, communication module wise. BLE requires a phone near by, but is less energy consuming and the comm modules are cheap. SIGFOX only does low bandwidth, but at a low cost and its very energy efficient. But combining all of them, we have what is needed to cover the entire set of requirements for the connected world.
