Mustang is situated in the North of Annapurna Himal and borders of Tibet (China). It is an ancient and mysterious Kingdom of Lo, which kept it closed to foreigners & tourists. Even after its inclusion in Nepalese territory, entry was tightly restricted for foreigners. Consequently, it drew much attention as a prohibited Kingdom. Mustang is among the most remote areas with its geographic extension of the Tibetan plateau, a windswept land of mountains preserving the last authentic remains of Tibetan culture. This area was completely isolated from the rest of the world, and was first opened to the trekking groups in 1991. The widely cultivated barley, potatoes and buckwheat are the staple diet of the villages, and through which our trek passes to reach the ancient walled fortress city of Lo Manthang. The border of Tibet is just at a stone’s throw distance.

We fly in and out of Jomsom to avoid the long distance march, and trek up the west side of the valley, with spectacular views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri and the Annapurna crossing from the pass at 13 000ft. Tserang is the second city of Mustang through which we continue our journey in the middle of some dramatic desert scenery of red and ochre fluted cliffs reaching ultimately to the mythically mediaeval walled city of Lo- Manthang.

Nepal is a Himalayan country, which lies in South Asia between Tibet, an autonomous region of the People’s Republic of China to the North and India to the South. This country is rectangular in shape having 885 km in length from east to west and its breadth varies from 145 km to 241 km north to south. The elevation of the country ranges from 70 m sea level to the highest point on earth, Mt. Everest at 8,848 m all within a distance of 150 km with climatic variations from sub-tropical to alpine. The country is popularly known in the world for an incredible variety of ecosystems, the greatest mountain ranges, thick tropical jungles teeming with a wealth of wildlife, thundering rivers, forested hills and frozen valleys.
The temples and historical palaces full of architectural values give glimpse of the craftsmanship and artistic ingenuity of the people then and now. Numerous religious and social festivals are celebrated all year round, as these festivals are the inevitable and aesthetical part of the religious and traditional heritage of the people from time immemorial. Smiling and welcoming attributes of the people add more meaning to the hospitality to give guest the feeling that homely atmosphere is waiting for them in this beautiful and enchanting land of myths and legends..

Everest Base Camp Trek
Where you find Sherpa culture, and chances to video-shoot some of the best landscapes in the world. The adventure also takes you through challenging terrain that includes glacial moraines and a steep climb up Kala Patthar where the adrenalin really goes into overdrive. As you hike up to EBC, expect some 3-4 hours hiking every day of the trip, but be prepared for some longer days on the return journey. A reasonable level of fitness is required. After exploring historical Kathmandu, we take a short flight to the hillside village of Lukla (2800m). As we move through the splendid mix and eye-catching vegetation of Sagarmatha National Park, we trek to the Sherpa ‘capital’ of Namche Bazaar. This is an interesting, bustling and friendly town where amazingly, even at such a remote outpost & altitude, almost everything under the skies, related to the outside world for you to communicate from where you are can be found here. Namche was formerly a trading post between Nepal and Tibet.
We allow a day’s acclimatization hereabouts and then move on to the beautiful Thyangboche Monastery. At this peaceful landmark, we find ourselves amongst the Mani walls, & prayer flags that whisper odes of prayers to the gods for the souls departed and chortens & then we soon realize we are in the shadows of the magnificent Everest massif and Ama Dablam, where the views are breathtakingly dumbfounding. The trek from Thyangboche ascends slowly but steadily to Dingboche, Lobuche and finally Gorek Shep, advancing above the tree-line into more rugged and moonscape-like surroundings. Gorek Shep, at 5100m is in fact the highest point that we will lodge at, and we take our time to reach this altitude after getting well acclimatized. Naturally, we leave our packs at Gorek Shep to make an afternoon incursion to Everest Base Camp, passing amazing glacial forms and enjoying the triumph of having made it all the way!
