http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=NetworkManager-1.2-F24  While Fedora 24 isn't set to be released until H1'2016, developers are already working on getting a NetworkManager 1.2 pre-release into the distribution's archive early.

Saw the Nest Protect article, then saw a video linked in the forums. WOW! I'm reminded that I distrust Google's software quality control.

+B. C. Schmerker The thing is, you're going to find that there's not much use for Linux loading those old (and I DO mean old) systems that can't be served with RedBoot or U-Boot instead.  Besides, if you're futzing with systems that ancient, the odds are good you're maintaining the whole codebase on a uCLinux setup that is frozen in time and has several serious security issues with it.

http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=KDE-X11-Wayland-DRM Aside from "every frame being perfect" with Wayland among its many advantages over X11, another benefit will be for greater power-savings in properly implemented software when a display is turned-off/sleeping.

http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Linux-4.3-EXT3-Debate  While yesterday it looked like the EXT3 driver would be removed in Linux 4.3 as the pull request was sent in and there were no objections brought up last month when it was proposed, Linus Torvalds has taken issue with removing the driver.

Introduction

Phoronix Media's premiere web property is Phoronix.com, which was founded after seeing the lack of online media that covered alternative operating systems at the time -- primarily when it came to Linux hardware reviews. Phoronix provides readers with the most detailed and up-to-date information in the computing world when it comes to the Linux and other open-source operating systems. Phoronix is especially well regarded for its Linux graphics articles and with time has become the leader in providing original Linux hardware content. More than 2,600 featured articles and 10,000 news postings have been published at Phoronix.

Phoronix is also responsible for the development of the widely-used Phoronix Test Suite testing software along with Phoromatic and OpenBenchmarking.org.

Phoronix was founded by Michael Larabel on 5 June 2004.
