Upstream notifications seem to be working very smoothly between the web and Android.  If I receive a notification on my phone that it is my turn, and then I make a move on the web, I can watch the notification disappear, which works perfectly!

I did have one scenario which could use some refinement.  Toward the end of a game in which I won, I received a phone notification for what ended up being my opponent's last move.  I proceeded to checkmate my opponent with my next move using the chess.com website.  However, instead of the phone notification for my opponent's last move disappearing, I received an additional notification on my phone that my game was over, even though I had made the final move!  So now I had two notifications on my phone that I had to deal with even though I had moved after my opponent and I had made the final move.

This is what I expect should happen:
1) My opponent's final move notification should have disappeared from my phone when I checkmated him on the website.
2) I do not need to receive a notification on my phone telling me "Your game is over - Black wins by Checkmate" when I checkmated him (or for example if I had agreed to a draw - in both cases I am the cause of the action).
3) "Your game is over - Black wins by Checkmate!" notification is not necessary even if my opponent checkmates me.  Instead of receiving a "your game is over" notification when my opponent checkmates me, I should get the standard your opponent has moved notification with move notation "#" indicating checkmate (ie. chessking has moved Qxb1#).  This notification should also disappear from my phone if I opened/refresh the game on the website or opened the notification on my phone or another device.
4) A "your game is over" notification only seems necessary if my opponent is the cause of a game ending action (ie, he agrees to my draw request, resigns, or stalemates me).   I don't need the notification if I am the cause of the action.

Other than the game ending notification refinement, notifications seem to appear/disappear when expected and that is very much appreciated!!!!  Thanks for all your work!

+Pete Nanninga we didn't adjust upstream notifications yet. We just update manually it. It works weird now, so we will improve it when we got a chance:) Thank you for your detailed feedback ;)

It seemed like we had stacked game notifications a release or 2 ago and now all notifications feed into one notification. Maybe it was a chat notification and a game notification but I would prefer game notifications stack as well so I can choose which game to make a move...also the game list on the right (when swiping right from a daily game or pressing play icon) doesn't automatically refresh unless you manually refresh the home page...

Are there any plans to implement notification cancelling through Google Cloud Messaging as described here: http://developer.android.com/google/gcm/notifications.html
"If a message has been handled on one device, the GCM message on the other devices are dismissed. For example, if a user has handled a calendar notification on one device, the notification will go away on the user's other devices.
If a message has not been delivered yet to a device and but it has been handled, the GCM server removes it from the unsent queue for the other devices."

For example, if I receive a notification on my phone that its my turn to move, but I make the move on the web, it should automatically clear the notification from my phone, etc.

Game list showing different finished game results on app vs web. 2nd game down shows a draw on the web and a win on the app (see attached pictures). The correct result should be draw.

Good start on v3!!!!  The UI is much, much better and much improved over the version 2.x

A few bugs/inconsistencies I've noticed playing around with it for an hour

1) When in a game, where is the move list?  At the very least you should be able to pull up the move list by using the menu (lower left corner).

2) Getting around the app using "Back" or "Up" doesn't seem quite consistent with Android UI guidelines (http://developer.android.com/design/patterns/navigation.html). In the lower levels of the app, there is no arrow up top to go Up to the previous screen, and the back button gives inconsistent results.  Sometimes it takes you out of the app, sometimes it takes you to the previous screen.  For example, from the game list, hitting the back button does not take you to the home page, it takes you out of the app.  From the Analysis board, the back button takes you back to the game.  Furthermore, from a screen like the game list, its a bit annoying to hit the hamburger button (top left) and then press home (2 button presses) to get back to the home instead of hitting what you would expect to be an Up arrow (1 button press) to get back to the home page.

3) On the Analysis board, you can't tap the piece you want to move and then tap the square you want to move it to, you MUST drag it to the new square.  Everywhere else (ie in a game) it appears you can tap the piece and then the square.  I prefer to be able to tap & tap instead of dragging or at least have the option of both methods.

4) In the old app, in a game, you would press the Analysis board button to get to the Analysis board and it would highlight orange.  You could then press the Analysis board button again to leave the Analysis board and it would no longer be highlighted orange.  I think this functionality should be replicated in the v3 app.  There is room for a 5th button (Analysis board button) in the Analysis board to be pressed to get back to the game.

5) There do not appear to be options for time controls, piece color, rated/unrated when creating a new "daily" game.  In addition, when a game is created, the challenge should show up in the game list in a challenges subheading above the subheading "completed"

6) In Live chess, when watching the "Top Game," pressing the menu button in the lower left corner takes you to the Analysis board instead of a menu.  If you want it to take you to the Analysis board, it should be the Analysis Board button, not the menu button.

7) In a finished game, pressing the menu button (lower left corner) gives you the option to "Email" the game, however I would suggest that it give you the option to "Share" the game and pressing "Share Game" would bring up the Android Share menu so any app could be used to share.

Wishlist:
1) Notifications for game challenges, new messages, checkmate/game ends in draw/draw request/opponent resign (basically a notification that the game is over when one of these actions is initiated by the opponent), and vote chess games.
2) More options for notification sounds: choosing the sound, vibrate etc.
3) When a game is created, the challenge should show up in the game list in a "Challenges" subheading above the subheading "Completed"
4) Tournament Tab
5) Vote Chess Tab

1) Moves list are available now only on devices with tall screen. We will add it for sure for devices with screens like Nexus 4, just need to adjust design for it ;)

2) Navigation issues are under development still , so later there might be improvements.

3) We know about it =)

4) Actually we tried to make analysis universal for all screens/game types, so it opens new screen and you can go back via back button. Title in action bar should help here.

5)http://grab.by/sQE4  Press on play icon in action bar and New Game. Tap on header Live or Daily game to adjust default options

6) It's a known bug :)

7) Yeah, will be reworked soon. Legacy of old app.

Whishlist is good ;)

There are a lot more notifications, they should work, but seems like we need to check why not everyone see them.

A couple of things I've noticed with regard to notifications:

1) The notification volume appears to be tied to the media volume instead of the ringer volume.  This is not standard Android behavior, it should be tied to the ringer volume.

2) Pressing on a notification for a chat message takes you to the game instead of the chat window.  If you then click on the chat button in the game and then go back to home screen, the notification bell in the right hand corner still shows a red "1" for an unread notification.  To clear it, you have to click on the notification bell and then click on the notification that says you have an unread chat message (even though the message has already been viewed).  Basically you have to view it twice to clear all the notifications, which to me is unnecessary.  If the chat window is viewed once, it should automatically clear the "1" from the notification bell.

The last few updates have only allowed me to start a new daily game with "random" instead of being able to choose one of my chess.com friends...

+roger alien , no you should be able to offer a draw even when it is not your turn.  On the web you can offer a draw at anytime and the old app you could too...
