This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. I booked and confirmed my reservation on Expedia. When I went to check in, the first guy, stared at the screen, then took my ID and went through a closed door for a few minutes. He emerged saying someone else would need to help with this. After about 45 minutes standing at the check-in desk while they pondered, they handed me a letter to go stay at a hotel a couple blocks away saying they didn't have a room. When I asked why, they were vague and only said due to extensions although it looked like they were checking in people after me. My guess is they sold my room to someone else for more money. When I went to this other hotel, turns out the The Grand has only asked them about rates and didn't say they were sending someone over. At first, they only had two smoking rooms, but when I protested, said there was one non-smoking but right above the Fremont Experience which went until after 1:00 AM. This hotel was not even close to as nice as the Grand; the room had peeling wallpaper and was dirty. An awful experience all around.
