Thinking about attending the AT&T Developer Summit Hackathon, January 2nd and 3rd in Las Vegas? We interviewed last year's winner on TekThing, and he dropped the inside scoop on what you can expect at a Hackathon, how to get the best effort out of your team, and even how having a non-technical person in there can make a huge difference. (In a good way!) Watch the segment: https://youtu.be/oXk2YO-igxc?t=15m5 Register for the Hackathon FOR FREE at http://GeeksLife.com/ATT with registration code GeeksLife!

The only way I would ever replace my existing Beatles music is if they agreed that when a newer better format came out I'd get new copies for free. I am not buying another copy of Magical Mystery Tour.

I keep coming back to this: The First Person to Hack the iPhone Built a Self-Driving Car. In His Garage http://www.bloomberg.com/features/2015-george-hotz-self-driving-car/  ... also, Tesla's response: https://www.teslamotors.com/support/correction-article-first-person-hack-iphone-built-self-driving-car

I haven't even read the article and I think the notion of one guy building a USABLE self driving car is nonsense. It's a brutally hard problem, and we seem to be lacking both sensors and image analysis tech to do it right in any weather conditions to judge by the pace. And after reading the article, it seems like my initial guess was right - he has "solved" the easiest tiny little part of self driving, highway driving in broad daylight where almost no intelligence is required to keep the car from smashing into stuff.

Of course, this is because the problem is being solved in the stupidest way imaginable. Instead of trying to replace humans in our horse-drawn-carriages-without-horses, we should be starting from a point of creating a transportation system that's automation friendly, and be retiring cars completely as a mass transport option; we can retain them in human-driven form for distant locales or wilderness and the like.

But for cities and suburbs, everything should be maglev and based on rail - either actual active maglev as in big trains, or passive maglev ultra-light guide rail as in http://www.skytran.us

Live TV on the apple TV4 is possibleright now. you can stream from a HD Homerun to PLEX. so technically you CAN have live TV on your apple TV. All it will take is an app and a service to emerge.

Our second installment with the MSI GTX 980 Ti SEA HAWK focuses in on gameplay at 4K and how viable it is with the fastest overclocked GTX 980 Ti we have seen yet. We will be using a reference GeForce GTX 980 Ti to show the full spectrum of the 980 Ti’s performance capabilities and emphasize the MSI GTX 980 Ti SEA HAWK’s value.
