Live at 8.15am this morning, Dotty McLeod from BBC Radio Cambridgeshire highlights an extraordinary feat for Papworth Hospital, Cambridgeshire and the World, as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first ever heart-lung-liver transplant tomorrow.

She catches up with Professor John Wallwork, our current Chairman of the Trust and lead surgeon of this pioneering surgery, whilst also hearing from a former heart-lung-liver patient, Andrew Armour, who 19 years later, is stronger than ever.

Transplant patients and Papworth staff will come together today to celebrate the Gift of Life at Christmas following lifesaving surgery this year. Ten patients have had their lives transformed thanks to an innovative heart transplant technique which Papworth Hospital is leading on.

Bookings are now being taken for the Transplant Study Day being held on the 5th February from 09:00-16:30.

This day will help to provide an overview of cardiothoracic transplantation and give candidates a greater understanding of the management of this complex patient group both pre and post transplantation.

We have an opportunity for a highly motivated, well organised individual to join us as an apprentice administration assistant.

The apprentice will learn all aspects of the recruitment process such as setting up interviews, checking references; ensuring filing is up to date as well as dealing with visitors and telephone queries.

The apprentice will study a Level 2 Business Administration apprenticeship through Cambridge Regional College.
