2 sleeps to go! Paddle Round the Pier is all about having fun, and raising money for worthy causes. This year one of the charities we will be passing your donations onto is the Wave Project.

“We are stoked to be nominated as a charity for Paddle Round the Pier. Not only will the festival raise vital funds to deliver sessions with children and young people in Brighton but will raise awareness about our work. The Wave Project Brighton transforms the lives of vulnerable children and young people living in Brighton, and the surrounding areas, who have a mental health issue, learning and/or physical disability.” Kath, VP, Wave Project.

Paddle Round the Pier has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Brighton & Hove Buses. Five years ago, the bus company was an early patron of the festival’s Access Beach, which gives disabled children and young adults the chance to take part in an array of water sports and activities. Thank you Brighton & Hove Buses for your ongoing support!

The RNLI is a donation funded sea life saving group. In 2015 Shoreham RNLI lifeboat station celebrated its 150th anniversary – its lifeboat crew & shore helpers are voluntary. Shoreham Lifeboat Station is delighted that Paddle Round the Pier has once again chosen to support it as one of its charities. Lifeboat coxswain Steve Smith said: “Over the years Paddle Round the Pier has been one of our staunchest supporters, raising thousands to help fund our life saving work. Each year in turn we provide support to the event so you will see us, the big orange boat on the water, keeping a watchful eye on you just in case you need us.” #DonateAtTheGate #PRTP http://ow.ly/JcO430csJsN

Only 3 sleeps until Paddle Round The Pier! The Paddle Access Beach allows kids, young people and their carers, who often have not even been on the beach before, access to the sea. Working in conjunction with Surf life Saving GB, The “Paddle” staff work to a ratio of 3-1 to enable each child the support they needed. Paddle purchased new wetsuits/lifejackets for all the kids. We borrow from BHCC seafront office balloon-wheeled wheelchairs (specially designed for beaches and going into the sea), build decking on the stone-beaches to allow easy access & specific WC & changing facilities. If you’d like to get involved, you can sign up to volunteer here. #PRTP http://ow.ly/BXjZ30csJsK

The event could not go ahead without the generous support of our sponsors. As you may be aware, the entire Paddle event is run, promoted and maintained by a crew of unpaid volunteers. Our sponsors support the costs of hosting the event so that every penny you donate into our collection buckets on the gates can go to our three nominated charities. Our 2017 sponsors: Ocean Flooring – kids stage sponsors, Brighton & Hove Buses – access beach sponsors, BN1 Magazine – main stage sponsors, Jeep – Surf Life Saving competition sponsors, Hartleys A massive thank you to all our sponsors who help make Paddle happen! #DonateAtTheGate #PRTP http://ow.ly/VOwQ30csJsI
