Best spots to soak up the sunshine in London (right before you head to Orso for a fantastic meal!) #sharethelove http://ow.ly/MnVJX
One of London's biggest buzzwords as soon as the sun is shining? Rooftops, of course. When the clock strikes 5pm in those summer months, it's a mad dash to the nearest rooftop bar. What could be more enjoyable than spending an evening looking out over unparalleled views across the capital with cocktail in hand. And with the addition of towering buildings to London's skyline, it seems the only way is up for switched-on Londoners. We asked Hirespace ...

It's not very often that one can brag about one's rich in carbs menu, but there's no better place to load up on energy before the #LondonMarathon than at Orso!

Only one more day to go until the @OlivierAwards ! Is anyone else getting really excited? http://ow.ly/LlfX4
The Olivier Awards are the biggest and most spectacular night in the British theatre calendar. Far more than just an awards ceremony, the night itself promises to be one of the most spectacular in London theatre history

Something we definitely have to try one of these days...Scàccia: The Sicilian Empanada http://ow.ly/2XwL5f
Nearly every country offers its own take on the empanada, and we have the Spanish to thank for this popular street food. Swide takes a look at Scàccia, a Sicilian crowd pleaser derived from the Spanish empanada.

A lot of people are calling this place a tourist trap, but I really don't believe that. This is actually one of the restaurants that I visit and don't feel like I am in the busiest part of London. The service is on point, always helpful and happy to talk through the menu. The zucchini batters thins (cant remember what the menu called them) are wonderful and totally more-ish. The lunch and pre theatre menu is a total bargain for the area and the food is delicious. I think this place is a nice haven to the hustle and bustle above

Orso offers a smaller choice than most Italian restaurants, but that's because every dish is fresh and cooked to the chef's perfection. Everything we ordered was great, and they manage to accommodate our large party with ease - everyone's food came out together. Recommendation: the seafood is a winner.

Ok... Some of the food was not bad. Some Decent starters. Mains were a bit of a let down. Ended up sending my Chicken back for a replacement of the same dish as the first one had piece of plastic under the crumbing. It all felt a bit forced and a little over priced.

Tourist trap! Quick in, quick out only attended by people going to the theaters. High end prices. Arrogant service by various servants (4 served us). Order squid, risotto and pizza with red wine. The pizza was like eating air, tasted like nothing (frozen pizza would have been better) notice this should be a italian restaurant. Risotto okay, squid undercooked. They charged us 4 pund for one glas of tap water, 6,5 pund service charge and additional 12,5 % on top of the bill. Don't go there, plenty of other alternatives nearby!

I strongly recommend this place. The buffalo mozzarella is the real stuff from Italy. Having only had pizza I couldn't comment on the other dishes but mine was very nice, evidently made with fresh dough cooked in a stone oven. The ingredients are all top quality. The service is excellent and waiters are professionals. The atmosphere in the dining room is very pleasant and classy, with the kind of lighting that is relaxing but not uncomfortably dim which is sadly the norm in lesser restaurants. It's authentic Italian food by London standards and I will go again.

Asked the concierge of the waldorf hotel for a nearby good quality food and value place to eat nearby, he recommended Orso, totally agree, well worth the visit, Friendly staff, nice set menu of the day, non chain but does gets very busy with pre theatre crowd.
Response from the owner - a month ago

Similarly as with Smollensky’s only the entrance is at ground level and you have to go down a small set of stairs to get to the actual restaurant. It was a lot more intimate than we were expecting (and would be great for a romantic pre-theatre meal) but luckily out group had halved in size to just six after a last minute Lunch and Learn was scheduled for the same time. We tucked ourselves away in a corner and chatted away happily amongst ourselves. The staff were attentive but not over bearing and very knowledgable on their menu. The set menu provides excellent value for money at £16.75 for 2-courses and £19.50 for 3. I’m glad that I just went for the small portion as it was more than enough for me. It was delicious too with the flaky white crab meat being full of flavour and there was lots of it as well which was nice to see. I was initally disappointed not to have been offered parmesan cheese with my meal though I think that this was perhaps a good thing as it would have detracted from the lovely flavours. The restaurant also has a lovely policy of allowing you to have your dessert/coffees after the theatre if you so wish which is great as you don’t need to wolf down three courses before heading to the show you are seeing.
