It’s very important to learn to talk to people with whom you disagree. It is human nature to gravitate to those who are like-minded, but it takes strength to engage in conversation with those with whom you think you don’t have anything in common. The more you dialogue, the more you might realize you have more similarities than differences.

A disagreement in one area with someone doesn’t mean he/she disagrees on everything else. It just means you have some different points of view. #MondayThought

When responding to someone who is challenging in his/her approach with you, do you represent yourself or reflect the other person?

We represent ourselves when our actions and language demonstrate our personal values. We reflect others when we allow our actions and language to mirror what we are receiving from them.

So don’t reflect another’s poor behavior. Instead, represent yourself by responding in a way that shows that you’re someone of value.

For example, those with negative stereotypes about aging are more likely to die earlier and suffer from memory loss.
