Anyone visited our site today and seen there is no news?

Well... we're not holiday. Here's the LD:

We submitted a fix for the site layout in Opera (which, fwiw, makes less than 2% of all visits - less than IE8). It worked locally but, when it went live: nada. It made all the text vanish in some browsers.

The 'fix' has been reverted (sorry Opera users) but we're waiting on the 20-odd layers* of caching to catch up. Things will be back to normal in a few hours.

Whilst the "fix" is in place in the cache Firefox doesn't seem to be affected, neither does Konquerer or Opera (obviously). The issue seems to be affecting (but is no means exclusive to) Chrome and Chromium.

If you read the site via RSS (http://ow.ly/cYVcr) then you probably didn't get this far because you no it doesn't affect you! ;)

Apologies in the mean time. You may now proceed to throw rotten fruit in our direction.

Thank you for not being Google. :)

I don't know what you did, but shouldn't it be the same as some days ago? In Opera, the site looked awful when the new design was applied, then after I reported the problem _before_ there was the fix it looked good some time and now after applying the fix and reverting it again, there is a new issue with the rendering in Opera. That's really weird.

Jep, I have problems with Opera and I'm glad you guys working on a fix ;)

Yeah Google Chrome still is out of action. Hope it is fixed soon :)

Also affects Android's default browser and chrome for Android - but that is no surprise

Good to see Chromium issues are not exclusive to me!

Ah yes, I was wondering my why Chrome app on my iPhone was showing a wonky version

Ya see? THIS is why I retired from computing. A billion tiny details that change every day, and if you don't work them on a daily/weekly basis, you can forget.

It looks like an issue with using flexbox and floats at the same time.  Why not use modernizr and only fall back to the floated layout if flexbox isn't available?

Edit: I see +Mathias Tillman beat me to it. :)

I was wondering what is going on :) Still down on Safari (OS X version)...

Awesome, glad they are working on fixing it for opera. It's my primary browser.

+Hunter Pipes You ... it's your fault that my chromium browser is blind to the words written on the site.  How do you live with yourself knowing the pain you caused? :P

(Just kidding ... if it wasn't obvious)

Why are you supporting a closed source browser with <2% market share?

+Elijah Lynn  not many websites wouldn't fix an error for a particular browser if it arrived, and the website would be flawed if they did so. I'm an Opera user because i like its feature and love OMG! Ubuntu!, so I'd be quite angry if they just ignored Opera users, and nevertheless 2% is still 2%.
