+Martin Kühne There's always a way around the old model. The journalists can still get paid, the readers can still enjoy the articles without a bunch of overbearing ads and clickbait, and all the fluff in the middle has to find a new, more relevant job instead of relying on making money by being the go-between.

It really all boils down to keeping up with changing technology, instead of simply trying to keep making money using old, outdated business models. The internet has made many old business models irrelevant as users (like people who read the news) and content providers (like people who write the news stories) are able to have a much more direct business relationship.

The ads were always there - remember all the junk inserts for store sales, the big ad spots in the classified section, and all the other print ads peppered throughout the newspaper?

Now, we've found two ways to update the format. Sites like Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/amandapalmer - if musicians can do it with music, then writers can do it, too - perhaps Snopes could start rating writers for truthfulness if the writers request it as a bonus in the form of verification) can be used to allow readers to pay you directly for access to your work and you can make sure paying readers get full access to your work, but non-paying readers get only the little bit you feel like giving away for free. OR We can keep going with news sites that crowd out all the content with ad-clutter and drive away the readers who would have generated revenue, while waiting for paid bots to give you an artificially inflated number of hits (you get hits, but the ads don't get clicked and you don't get paid).

Sadly, we have too many of the latter, relatively few of the former, and ton of fake news clickbait (https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/dec/04/google-democracy-truth-internet-search-facebook?CMP=share_btn_gp - The Guardian isn't half-bad, ad-wise, at least on desktop) on social media filling the void in the middle. I honestly hope the situation improves soon, but there's not much to indicate that it will.

Sorry about the length of my comment, but it's a bit of a complex situation, unfortunately.

I've been with this guy for a few months now and it's been pretty much terrible. When I try to call him with a question or concern about my policy it always goes straight to voicemail. Emails won't get returned, either. I suppose if I could just get a live person on the phone maybe the service would be better, but I've been trying to get ahold of him for weeks now and it's impossible. I recently bought a house and the title company mailed a check to Shawn Stewart's offices which needed to be deposited in order to insure my new home. After 8 weeks we found out that he never cashed the check and my home has been uninsured this entire time. Furthermore, after weeks of attempts neither myself nor the title company can get ahold of this guy. Worst agent ever. Stay away from this one.
