Fritz Francois remembers his first night in New York fondly—it was the Fourth of July, and 10-year-old Fritz was in awe of the city’s vibrant energy and dazzling fireworks. His father kidded him that the fireworks in the night sky were to celebrate his arrival from Haiti. It made Fritz believe that anything is possible here. Fritz is now Chief of Medicine at NYU Langone’s Tisch Hospital. Dr. Fritz Francois is ‪#‎MadeforNewYork‬. Watch to find out more: http://bit.ly/1FK0PCF

Watch interventional cardiologist Dr. Sripal Bangalore discuss an NYU Langone study published today in the New England Journal of Medicine, which found that newer drug-coated stents have similar long-term results compared with traditional bypass surgery for patients. “For patients and physicians, our study gives them up-to-date information as to which option to choose," Dr. Bangalore says. “Knowing the pros and cons will help them make an informed decision." To Laurie Miller Brotman, family is everything. She’s a wife to her husband, Andrew, and a mother to her son, Henry. And at NYU Langone, as director of the Center for Early Childhood Health and Development, Laurie works closely with inner-city families to help give them tools they need to ensure the healthy development of their children. She’s part of the mosaic of families that make up New York City, and she’s making a huge impact on it. Laurie Miller Brotman is #MadeforNewYork. Watch to find out more: http://bit.ly/1NignQ1

It was a bright, winter day in 1965 when Jan Vilcek arrived in New York from Czechoslovakia. The city, with the sun setting behind the skyscrapers, was more than just a beautiful sight—it promised a new beginning. Soon after that, he joined NYU Langone, where he has since made important discoveries in microbiology and immunology. Fifty years later, Jan is still contributing to groundbreaking scientific developments while teaching the next generation of doctors. Jan Vilcek is ‪#‎MadeforNewYork‬. New York City is a place that gives us so much—and takes so much. This city is as exhilarating as it is exhausting, and living here requires us to constantly be on our toes, both mentally and physically. We’ll speed-walk 20 blocks to get to an important meeting, or run up an escalator to make the train. There’s no changing that. At NYU Langone Orthopedics, we think of our fellow New Yorkers as the true everyday athletes they are, and it’s our privilege to keep them moving. Watch to learn more. #madefornewyork

Children with physical disabilities experienced the joy of skiing with the help of physical therapists from the Adaptive Ski Program at NYU Langone’s Rusk Rehabilitation, thanks to a grant from KiDS of NYU Langone. Adaptive skiing allows children and adults with functional limitations to participate in a recreational activity, and has been shown to enhance peer socialization, skill development, and help to develop personal interests and identity.
