Plant pigments known as anthocyanins support a stop to prediabetes

The early phases of #prediabetes begin with insulin resistance, a pro-inflammatory internal environment and lipids ("different types of cholesterol") gettin' a bit out of whack.

If this progresses, blood sugar levels get more difficult for your body to control and an official diagnosis of type 2 diabetes is made and medication is advised.

Recent research on diabetics show that a class of flavonoids known as anthocyanins have "beneficial metabolic effects in subjects with type 2 diabetes by improving dyslipidemia, enhancing antioxidant capacity, and preventing insulin resistance."  (http://goo.gl/1tk1C0)

There is no magic supplement to improve your metabolism in the face of prediabetes or diabetes. It takes devoted lifestyle change including eating properly, moving adequately and sleeping well.

An exceptional flavonoid supplement containing proanthocyanidins among other supportively beneficial compounds can be found here:

Does glucosamine & chondroitin help painful arthritis?

The research has been mixed, but here's some support for glucosamine & chondroitin (G & C) for painful #arthritis . This study compares its benefit to a pharmacy anti-inflammatory medicine that goes by the trade name Celebrex.

Reasonable advice regarding G & C is to try it for 3-6 months and see how you do. If there is no notable benefit, better to put your money elsewhere.

For a more natural, real food approach, bone broth makes for a good joint support formula.

Curcumin shown to support healthy cholesterol levels

The health benefits of curcumin for people with #prediabetes metabolic syndrome is a popular topic. The research on curcumin conitunues to support its use in various areas of health.

This study looked at the effects of curcumin at a dose just under 2 grams/day for 12 weeks in people with metabolic syndrome. The investigators found improvements in the different types of cholesterol without an improvement in body weight and blood sugar control in patients with metabolic syndrome.

Got a poor metabolism with prediabetes? In addition to proper lifestyle management, consider daily curcumin. You can get a great curcumin supplement here -http://goo.gl/sAECxu.

Astaxanthin supplementation helps exercising rats

Astaxanthin appears to target the mitochondria promoting physical endurance.

While we wholeheartedly support scientific research on nutrients and nutrition, enough already with the skinny mice and physically fit rats.

We understand the tremendous difficulties regarding human research, but how about at least considering more research at the level of various human tissue cultures? Would the conclusions regarding human health from this research be any more valid than those from mice and rats?
