The Nevada DMV now offers appointments in Las Vegas! Book your time the same day (if available) or up to 30 days in advance. Las Vegans set 1,777 appointments during a soft rollout last week.

Happy Thanksgiving from the DMV! We will be closed Thursday through Sunday. Avoid the crowds on Wednesday and Monday. The DMV offers more than two dozen online services so you get it done online. The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles says October wait times at its metropolitan offices are down 65 percent compared to the month of June.  The four Las Vegas offices have dropped wait times by 61 percent, from 107 minutes on average to 42.  The Reno office has cut waits by 82 percent from 126 minutes on average to 23.

Governor Brian Sandoval, DMV officials and CORE Construction broke ground for the new DMV office on Sahara Ave. in Las Vegas.  See the News Release.

DMV hired 93 new technicians and supervisors on July 1 and is now training them to serve the public and help ease wait times.
“The Legislature funded 75 new positions with the intent of relieving the crunch at our offices,” said DMV Director Troy Dillard. “Once this new group is trained and at the windows we should see some relief to the crowding and extended wait times we have been enduring for some time,” he added.
New DMV employees attend a New Hire Academy when they join... the agency. They are trained on the intricacies of issuing licenses and vehicle registrations to Nevada’s 1.7 million licensed drivers. New hire academies are being conducted in Las Vegas and Carson City.

The US Dept. of Homeland Security has clarified its policy on accepting Nevada driver's licenses and ID cards for boarding aircraft. All licenses/IDs from Nevada and other Real ID compliant states will be accepted through October 1, 2020. This means there is no rush to get a Real ID license. Reno customers: please note that parking will be at a premium Monday, March 9, at the DMV office on Galletti Way.  The parking at the NDOT office across from the DMV will be closed.  Use Dash Pass to check in early. You don't have to wait at the office!
