NASA's Barge, The Pegasus, delivers pieces of the SLS Rocket System a total of 1,240 miles up river from Michoud Factory in New Orleans to Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, passing through Wheeler Lock along the way. The Pegasus is 310' long and 50' wide. It is a self sustaining vessel, except for propulsion, which comes via 2 tugboats (1 pushes and 1 pulls). The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District maintains and operates the lock on the #Tennessee River in Rogersville #Alabama at the Tennessee Valley Authority project!
