When I think about where I want to go take photos, I usually think of Europe, Asia or a tropical beach somewhere. I'm just starting to learn that there truly is so much beauty in the National Parks here in America. Before this year, I had visited very few of them, and not any of the famous ones. Big mistake!

I took this shot last night at Zion National Park in Utah. I drove out there yesterday - just a few hours from my home in Vegas, and I'd never heard of it, let alone visited. This amazing overlook is only a half mile or so off the road... You can imagine my surprise when I looked out and saw this view after such an easy / short hike.

Also, I'd like to recommend an excellent six-part documentary The National Parks: America's Best Idea by the master Ken Burns. It's on Netflix and definitely worth watching: http://bit.ly/QMtBqw
