I want to thank you for being part of the Mp3tag community!

I've loved every minute of working on Mp3tag and I hope you’ve enjoyed working with it too :)

I'm also immensely grateful for all of you who supported me and my project with a donation (or even multiple donations!). It's awesome that you’re caring and it feels very good to be backed by a crowd! Thank you wholeheartedly.

Over the year I've also received a tremendous amount of support requests and feedback from a huge variety of places in the world – ranging from Whitehorse, Canada (one of my best friends is living there now) over Durban, South Africa to Queenstown, New Zealand to Osaka, Japan over Graz, Austria to Ísafjörður, Iceland to Houston TX, USA and many, many more. The world feels very huge and interconnected by having contact to so many of you. And it's amazing to see that so many people are using Mp3tag in ways I'd never have imagined.

I'm already working on the next release. If you feel adventurous over the holidays, you can get the latest beta version of Mp3tag from http://developer.mp3tag.de – it's still in the makings :)

But most importantly, I’m wishing you a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a healthy and inspiring New Year 2017.

See you soon! Until then, enjoy and take care

I've just released Mp3tag v2.81!

Support for Portable Installation and Admin-Elevation
A long-requested feature of many users was a portable installation of Mp3tag, i.e., a installation that installs in one directory and also stores its configuration settings in this directory. This is now possible. And if you choose the standard installation, Mp3tag automatically elevates the process to the necessary user rights (after asking you, of course).

Support for iTunes Grouping Field
As mentioned in the release notes of Mp3tag v2.80, iTunes was writing the grouping information to its internal database only. With an updated version of iTunes, this information is now written to a new iTunes-specific ID3v2 field which is available in Mp3tag via the field name GROUPING.

You can download the new version from

Today is a sunny day here in Dresden, I’m sitting at my favorite coffee place and I hope you too enjoy life wherever you’re on the planet.

Enjoy and take care

I’ve just released Mp3tag v2.80!

Besides some smaller changes and bug-fixes, the new release is mainly exciting for classical music enthusiasts. In October, iTunes introduced new tag fields for better tagging of classical music. Those fields include work name, movement name, number and total count and are now mapped in Mp3tag to these new field names:

- MOVEMENTNAME — Movement name
- MOVEMENT — Movement number
- MOVEMENTTOTAL — Movement count
- WORK — Work name
- SHOWMOVEMENT — Flag to trigger showing of classical fields instead of normal title in iTunes (1 = yes)

And however you’re deciding to spend the last days of autumn, I hope you find some thankful moments and time to explore your, as poet Mary Oliver put it, "your one wild and precious life".

Enjoy and take care

I’ve just released Mp3tag v2.79

Before I link to the download, let me just tell you how great it was to see such a HUGE interest and response to the 10 lessons email course I’ve created for the Mp3tag Newsletter. Many (and I mean really many!) gave feedback or simply a quick "Thank you“ note after going through the course – it was really good to be in contact with so many people over the last month!

The new version mainly addresses some issues around the 'Tag - Filename' converter, UI-responsiveness and 32-bit WAV files. As always, the changelog provides the full list :) I've also improved compatibility of the Wine-based Mac OS X app with the new macOS Sierra.

I have an invitation for you: over the last couple of weeks, I’ve built a free 10-lessons email course, which introduces some of the core features of Mp3tag. My intention is, that more people can make the most use out of my app :)

If you like to get a short email presenting one of the essential Mp3tag features over the next 10 days then simply subscribe to the Mp3tag Newsletter at

http://www.mp3tag.de/en/newsletter.html

It'll start the next day and I think you’ll like it – if not, you can stop at any time.

Enjoy and take care!

I’ve just released Mp3tag v2.78!

Lots of you asked for AIF/AIFF support over the last couple of months (even years, my first reference goes back to 2008) – and today is the day :D
The main new feature of this new version is support for the AIF / AIFC / AIFF file format.

Since the last release, I was also traveling beautiful Norway and made a kind of three-week sabbatical from Mp3tag. That means for me to take a break from daily support email, no checking of Mp3tag's Google+, Facebook and Twitter feeds, not reading all the interesting, helpful and controversial discussions of the Forums, and – most importantly – not doing the actual work of developing Mp3tag and working with its code base.

I really loved the vast fjords in the west, hiking the mountains (which some still had plenty of snow) and living the simple life with a tent. It’s a BEAUTIFUL country.

But after three weeks, when I came back, I took my computer and started to catch up. I noticed that even when I was away, lots of people downloaded the app, subscribed to the newsletter and got help online.

It’s wonderful to create value for you, even if I’m not at my desk working and it’s great that you’re still here :)

I've just released Mp3tag v2.77!

The last release added some exciting new features, but also introduced some issues that affected some of you.

I've been working on resolving those issues over the past week and was in contact with some highly responsive people who tested internal versions during the course of this bug chase.

Funnily, I've also attended a conference this week (JAX in Mainz, next to the beautiful Rhine river), where we gave a talk on possibilities for reducing the feedback loop in case of issues with a software system. So I had some simultaneous hands-on experience on this topic during the week :-)

I’ve just released Mp3tag v2.76!

Do you know the sensation, that for doing really meaningful work, you have to sometimes reserve some extra time? That you need to create some margin in your day, week or month to be able to address the things you want to think about and create?

I was traveling to Vienna end of march and stayed there for one week. During that week, – besides of spending time with my brother – I found beautiful spots to open my Notebook and work on Mp3tag (at Café Menta, a quiet garden in full spring of the beautiful hotel magdas and the futuristic campus of the business university).

As a result, the main feature of v2.76 is full support for the WAV audio format. This includes support for RIFF INFO tags (which are surprisingly limited) and writing ID3v2 tags (including user-defined fields and cover art) as dedicated RIFF chunks. The new version reads, writes and removes those tags and – as usual – also reports meaningful technical information about the file.

You can download the new version from

http://www.mp3tag.de/en/download.html?utm_source=gplus&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=v276

If you’re using WAV and if you’re excited about this new feature (or if you simply want to drop me a note) I’d love to hear from you.

Enjoy and take care
