The history of agriculture is vital to the history of the state of Minnesota. The Oliver H. Kelley Farm serves as an important educational tool for the students and schools of Minnesota, as they learn the history of agriculture in Minnesota firsthand.

Help the Kelley Farm serve more of Minnesota's students, schools and families by asking your legislators to support funding for our repairs and expansion.

Join fellow history lovers at the Minnesota State Capitol for History Matters Day. Each year, history supporters gather in the Capitol rotunda to learn more about history activities across the state and to let legislators know about the great educational work taking place with the help of state general fund dollars, Legacy funding and capital budget dollars.

A shuttle will be running from the History Center starting at 9 a.m.

Temperance parade button, circa 1910. Made in Hennepin County, this button reads: "March for the Real Issue, the Saloon or the Home."

"American Spirits: the Rise and Fall of Prohibition" contains many more artifacts from the Prohibition era. But hurry! The exhibit closes March 16, so plan your trip in to the Minnesota History Center to see it today!

One of our fantastic tours is featured in the New York Times!
No Civil War battles were fought in Minnesota, but many Minnesotans fought in the war. That gave the Minnesota Historical Society an idea: Why not focus on what the soldiers did after the war?

I have three ancestors who served in Minnesota units during the Civil War.  Examining what happened to them when they returned home may provide valuable insights that can help us today.

LAST CALL: "American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition" closes March 16! Plan your trip in to the Minnesota History Center today to participate in the ruckus of the era!  http://bit.ly/1dRkPl9

Take your mug shot with famous Prohibition criminals, learn to dance the Charleston and take the quiz to find out if you would have been a "wet" or a "dry."

The Minnesota Woman's Christian Temperance Union focused primarily on raising public awareness of the personal and social problems brought about by the consumption of alcoholic beverages. This ribbon was used at their 52nd annual convention in Duluth, August 28-31, 1928.

Check out 'American Spirits' at the Minnesota History Center until it closes March 16 for additional Prohibition artifacts and propaganda from both sides of the issue http://bit.ly/1dRkPl9
