FRIDAY PHOTO - MOUNTAIN-TOP ARCTIC AIRPORT -

This photo shows the potential site for a new Pangnirtung Airport in Nunavut, located on a plateau 3,000 feet above sea level.

The current Pangnirtung Airport is located in a mountainous fiord and serves a local community situated at the Arctic Circle on Baffin Island, which can only be accessed by air. It has run out of room for runway expansion, limiting aircraft access; and experiences difficulties due to low clouds and fog, causing aircraft delays.

To address these issues, the Government of Nunavut retained MMM to undertake a series of projects in support of airport relocation to a plateau 2,200 feet above the community. This included several environmental assessments and screenings of the site; and conceptual design for the airport, associated facilities, and an 8-km all-season access road connecting to the community.

This video shows a rendering of the new football stadium that is being developed as part of the largest revitalization project in the history of Regina, Saskatchewan.

The Regina Revitalization Initiative (RRI) Stadium Project involves the construction of a world-class sports and entertainment venue that will be home to the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League as well as many local community sports organizations.

MMM is involved in multiple aspects of the project, including the design of a sub-surface drainage system for the field, development of a traffic and parking management plan for the stadium operations, and design and construction administration of the municipal infrastructure for the stadium.

The 33,000-seat open-air facility is scheduled to open in 2017.
