Should schools be able to start before Labor Day? Education leaders are lobbying for a bill which would allow public schools to set their own start date.
House Bill 4396, which would allow Michigan's public school districts to set their own start date rather than being required to wait until after Labor Day, currently is before the House Education Committee.

The Detroit Lions pick 23rd this year, and hopes, of course, are high that they will instantly improve because of who they pick. Check out the history of what the Lions and other teams have picked at 23 in the past and what might be expected from this year's pick.
Every fan can wake up tomorrow morning and feel like their team got better. Then repeat the process twice more. Of course, not every team will get better, at least to the same degree. Not every guy pans out. There will be busts. At some point, reality beckons. And hopes will burst.

One thing is true about Michigan's winters. Very rarely do back-to-back winters have similar weather. Luckily, this meant a lot less snow than last winter.

While scientists have connected fracking as a cause of seismic activity within the U.S., experts are "extremely confident there is no connection" between fracking and the earthquake that hit Michigan over the weekend.
The state official who oversees regulation of oil and gas well says he is certain that Saturday's earthquake in Kalamazoo County is unrelated to fracking or other drilling in the area.

There were no fans and no applause, but there was baseball Wednesday afternoon in Baltimore in an odd and historic scene former West Michigan Whitecaps and current Orioles groundskeeper Michael Huie described as "very weird."
