Missouri State University has chosen Sara Lampe as the recipient of its 21st honorary doctorate: the Doctor of Public Affairs in recognition of her outstanding achievements in public affairs. She will receive the award at the May commencement ceremonies.

Beta Alpha Psi is an international honor association for financial information students and professionals.
Missouri State University’s chapter has won many awards at the association’s international meeting and best practices competition.

Students Tanner Courtney, Brandon Holman, Nicole Johnson, Tara Randles, Brandon Smith and Veronica Shultz all placed at this year’s competition. One of the teams, led by Brandon Smith and Veronica Shultz, finished first in the nation. The team led by Tara Randles and Tanner Courtney finished third in the nation.

In addition, Dr. Stephanie Bryant, dean of the College of Business, was honored with the Outstanding Dean award; and Beta Alpha Psi advisers Dr. George Schmelzle and Dr. Carl Keller were honored with the Outstanding Faculty Advisor award.

Other members who attended the competition included Clint Caselman, Elizabeth Sivill, Derek Walters and Amanda Wieberg.

Beta Alpha Psi recognizes academic excellence and complements members' formal education by providing interaction and networking among students, faculty and professionals.

The outstanding work of these Missouri State students and professionals is a point of pride for the university.

The 2016 Citizen Scholars include: Jaggar Deed, Kimberleigh Eng, Caroline Finnell, Alexis Jemes, Michelle Pellegrino and Tori York.

These students have made their Missouri Statement through their tremendous efforts in and out of the classroom.

When Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th president of the United States on Jan. 20, 2017, the Missouri State University Chorale was front and center.

The Chorale, directed by Dr. Cameron LaBarr, performed during the nationally televised inaugural ceremony on the Capitol's West Front, which was watched by an estimated 40 million people.
