James Hetfield of Metallica with his Mesa Traditional Straight cabinets and custom printed grilles on stage at the Fox Theater in Oakland last Saturday, Dec 17. ALL of the show’s proceeds benefited Alameda County Community Food Bank who works with area nonprofits in providing over 500K meals a week to those in need. Fans were also encouraged to bring canned foods and donate to other collection bins at the entrance including a collection to support those impacted by the recent Ghost Ship fire in Oakland.

The MESA Triple Crown TC50 covers a wide variety of musical styles and tones from it’s three channels and versatile tone controls & features. One of the genres where it excels is classic rock and this video showcases the smooth, warm and full potential of the TC-50 for clean, rhythm & solo sounds while also highlighting how it drives in a mix with cut and attack.

The Middle, Treble and Presence settings were lower in Ch. 2 to create smoother, creamy and more vintage midrange and high frequencies with both single coil and humbucking pickups. Coupling the lower settings with 6V6s power tubes accentuates the warmer tones possible from the Triple Crown with their lower overall wattage (around 25 watts) and their classic vintage voice and output.

Solo sounds in Ch. 3 are responsive, detailed and singing, reflecting a unique blend of classic rock circuits with the sustain and hallmarks of Mesa’s Mark series tones.

Played through a “Custom Saucy” Strat-style, Gene Baker B3 Double Cutaway and a Gibson SG into the Triple Crown TC-50 with a Traditional Rectifier 4x12 Slant cab with Celestion Vintage 30s. Recorded with a Shure SM57, Royer 121, the TC-50 CabClone (set to Open-Back) and a Sennheiser stereo room mic. Mixed approximately 35% SM57, 30% Royer 121, 20% CabClone and 15% Room mic.

Original music and performance by Tal Morris. Our sincere thanks to Tal for the great track, tones and performance!

Andy Timmons happened to be in the audience as a fan for a recent Steve Vai performance at the Bomb Factory in Dallas, TX. The cameras were rolling as Vai spotted Timmons in the front row, makes his way to the front row, takes off his guitar and hands it over to Andy….cool moment to capture, check it out.

The Triple Crown™ TC-50™ provides a wide range of tonal possibilities from pristine clean to massive high gain. This video showcases the Triple Crown’s accurate and even-ordered harmonic layering for rhythm sounds at mid-gain settings in Ch. 2, and the dynamic and sustaining solo sounds of Ch. 3 at medium-to-high gain settings. The selectable Tight Mode was also in used in both gain channels in this video to highlight the immediate response and mid-forward voicing to more aggressive and faster instrument attack.

The Gain controls in both Ch. 2 & 3 offer an incredible range of different distortion flavors, dynamics and tones across the control’s full sweep. Ch. 2 has one less preamp tube gain stage than Ch. 3, adding variety to the sounds you can dial in between the channels and expanding the amp’s tonal range to appeal to many different playing styles and rigs.

Recorded with a Gibson Firebird with Mini Humbuckers, a Gretsch Silver Falcon with Filter’Tron pickups, and a Les Paul Standard with P94 pickups into a Triple Crown TC50 and a Rectifier Compact 2x12 cabinet with Celestion Vintage 30s. A Jim Dunlop Echoplex Delay was using in the loop during the solo. Mic’d with a Shure SM57, a Royer 121 and the CabClone and blended 45% SM57, 35% Royer and 20% CabClone and mastered for optimal output.

Introduction
Our reputation for hand-building exceptional quality high performance amplifiers is exceeded only by our rep for customer service. Our goal from day one has been to treat you, the customer, as we ourselves would want to be treated. Following this simple and most basic practice has earned us the loyalty of legions of faithful players around the globe. Unlike bigger companies with vast Service Departments, we’re available to talk to you instead of assigning you a number. Yet because we have been successfully helping musicians get great tone for 40 years, we have resources smaller operations or boutique builders simply can’t provide. Our flexible “mid size” organization enables us to respond to your needs quickly and efficiently making us big enough to serve, yet small enough to care.
