Blog o'clock! Why Dahon folding bikes are ace - Folding bikes don’t have to be heavy, awkward, boring lumps of ugly - http://www.merlincycles.com/blog/why-dahon-folding-bikes-are-ace/
Dahon proved that folding bikes didn't have to be heavy, awkward and boring lumps of ugly. Dahon folders are nippy, cute and insanely fun to ride. A lot of people think folding bikes are uncool and...

I have used Merlin since I got involved in Mountain biking back in the 90's, since then I have bought my first road bike from them a Sensa Giulia . Whilst they have moved a a couple of times and the shop keeps getting bigger, I still see familiar faces and the service is as friendly as ever. Prices are hard to beat too, just check online.

Prompt when it all goes right. Reasonably attentive and considered when it doesn't. Generally the best prices on the web and arrives at your door. Personable and available on the phone and answering e mails. What's not to like?

I will definitely not be purchasing from Merlin Cycles again. Crankset showed up very poorly packaged-nothing to protect the crankset, it was just shoved in the box with another broken down carboard box pushed on top to hold the crankset in place. No care was taken at all with how such a nice part was prepared to be shipped. SHOWED UP WITH A BROKEN TOOTH ON THE BIG CHAINRING. I contacted Merlin about this, and they said if I paid to ship it back ($30+) they would evaluate and go from there. The prices are cheap up front, but be it is absolutely not worth the risk of having to pay to ship something back because it SHOWED UP BROKEN due to negligent packaging. I work in a machine shop, and I know this problem could have been avoided in the first place if Merlin Cycles 1.) Had better quality management for what is going out the door and 2.) Had a shipping department that took ANY pride in what they did. Save yourself the trouble, and pay a little more at your local bike shop. And as a reference, they selectively post positive reviews on their website, so the customer feedback you see on their website is not an accurate depiction of their business.

Needed new MTB forks and treated myself to a set of hydraulic brakes at the same time. Got both for a decent discount to RRP (online prices). Fitting of both was only £30 and they got the job done over a weekend . Very pleased ! .... Matt L , Altrincham

I bought a new set of forks from them and when I asked about fitting they quoted me a ridiculous amount which I would not pay. I got them fitted by another bike shop for half the price. Later I emailed them for some help on whether they were functioning correctly and received a very brief poor response which did not answer my question.

Absolutely brilliant business. I live on the west coast of the united states and received a fork 3 days after ordering it. not only was merlin priced better than local shops, they were able to deliver quickly and i know that could not have been cheap shipping. absolutely will continue to order from merlin. they answer emails and you can call them if need be, in short, similar service to a local bike shop, just happens to be a long swim away :)

Phoned up with a query, staff very helpful and polite. Ordered immediately and got a 10% discount even over the phone, my groupset arrived next day. Well done Merlin!
