Presenting the all-new 2013 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG. What began as a new standard for off-road prowess has, over three decades, also become legendary for unexpected and exhilarating on-road performance. With an all-new hand-built 5.5-liter biturbo V-8 that announces its 544-hp and 560 lb-ft of torque through a distinctive side-exit dual exhaust, this rugged, handcrafted SUV is as thrilling on roads as it is over rocks.
Breathing through a unique twin-blade grille atop a bumper designed to feed air to the turbo intercooler, the G63 AMG routes its ample power through a quick-shifting AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7-speed automatic transmission, on to all four wheels via a special performance-tuned version of 4MATIC all-wheel drive. When it’s time to stop, bright red performance-optimized brake calipers bite down on massive cross-drilled rotors behind 20-inch AMG wheels.
Inside, you’ll find completely redesigned, but no less luxurious cabin. Although the trademark passenger-side grab handle is retained, an all-new instrument cluster and steering wheel greets the driver, while perched atop the redesigned center stack is a large, full color tablet-like COMAND system display. And of course, the G63’s three locking differentials can—as always—be individually operated via three switches found just below the screen.
It’s been over 30 years since the G-Class established itself at the pinnacles of both exclusivity and capability. Able to journey to the ends of the earth, on-road or off, the G63 AMG can get away from it all—literally. That’s the uncompromising character of a vehicle that was engineered to be the best.
