The Center for Native and Urban Wildlife at Scottsdale Community College works to educate people about the importance of conserving the Sonoran Desert. "The Desert Tortoise is one of our most charismatic animals, but their population faces challenges from collecting, vandalism, loss of habitat, and disease. We need to be diligent about protecting our unique species. Arizona Game and Fish currently has dozens of captive desert tortoises that need to be adopted. If you feel that you can provide proper care for a tortoise, please contact them," Natalie Case, Exhibits Curator. #Arizona #Desert #Tortoise
