+NBC’s +Today Show broadcasts a report about MDMA-assisted psychotherapy as a treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), highlighting promising research results and testimonials.
Iraq War veteran CJ Hardin says his PTSD left him “hermitized” and unable to live a regular life. That is, until he was given MDMA, commonly known as the illegal drug Ecstasy, as part of experimental therapy. NBC’s Janet Shamlian reports for Sunday TODAY on the clinical trial with groundbreaking results.

Nice piece, but news outlets continue to sensationalize such reports by using the word "ecstasy" in stead of "MDMA."

The +San Francisco Chronicle publishes a brief overview of the past 50 years of psychedelic and marijuana research.
The Human Be-In sparked a cultural paradigm shift unrivaled since World War II, and despite a conservative backlash and decades-long prohibition, psychedelics are inexorably moving from the Polo Fields of Golden Gate Park into the therapist’s office. Federal research dollars now flow into studies that give marijuana and MDMA, or ecstasy, to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) sufferers, and the hallucinogens LSD and psilocybin to cancer patien...

Last month, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration encouraged MAPS to apply for Breakthrough Therapy Designation for MDMA-assisted psychotherapy as a treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). According to the FDA, a breakthrough therapy is intended "to treat a serious or life threatening disease condition," and "may demonstrate substantial improvement over existing therapies." If approved, Breakthrough Therapy Designation could expedite the development and review of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD.
