this looks to be a good book ... very nicely illustrated by daniel miyares. it's about how mark twain isolated himself from the world after his wife died, and how a cat named bambino brought him into the light once more.

the author also did picasso and minou .....about a cat who inspires picasso to go in a different direction in his art.

i love kids books like this. a pleasure for me to read, while i am reading, and teaching to others....
the kansas city star newspaper had a lost and found ad on april 5, 1905, that was written like this:

A CAST LOST - FIVE DOLLARS REWARD for his restoration to Mark Twain, No. 21 Fifth avenue. Large and intensely black; thick, velvety fur; has a faint fringe of white hair across his chest; not easy to find in ordinary light.

isn't that greatly worded? i'd be hunting the mess out of that town for that cat.
