Road Test: Behind the Wheel of the Bentayga, the World’s Most Luxurious SUV

We’re at Innsbruck airport, waiting to helicopter over to the fabulous San Luis resort in the Italian Sud Tirol before next day’s Bentayga test drive. But the gods have other plans and fog over the city’s Nordkette mountains means a no fly.

We can start our 6-litre engines a whole day earlier! The route? A 2-hour drive across the Brenner Pass down into Italy via Bozen, then snaking up past Bolzano to San Luis at Haferling. A superb mix of motorway and mountain roads for testing Bentley’s first diesel – and the chance to enjoy the Bentayga’s explosive 12-cylinders, 600hp and 8-speed transmission. Bentley creates the ultimate in-car falconry kit

Hand-crafted by Mulliner – Bentley’s personal commissioning division – the Bentayga Falconry features a bespoke installation in the rear which houses all the equipment required for an enjoyable falconry expedition.

At the heart of the Bentayga Falconry by Mulliner are two individual natural-cork-fabric-trimmed units: a master flight station and a refreshment case. These sit on a movable tray that allows for easy access. Inside the master flight unit is a special Piano Black veneered drawer – with a saker falcon crest – containing bespoke storage for all the equipment required for this unique sport.

Beneath this is a laser-embossed Hotspur hide stowage tray with individual compartments for a GPS bird tracking unit, binoculars and hand-crafted leather bird hoods and gauntlets, all of which are available as an additional option. The refreshment case houses three metal flasks and durable cups, a blanket and refreshing face cloths.

Two individual perches are stored in a special natural-cork-fabric-trimmed case which slots into a hard pocket built into the side of the boot. A boot-floor and rear-sill protection cover – also in cork – is discreetly integrated into the rear of the Bentayga. Using this reversible feature in conjunction with the in-car perch, falconers can prepare their bird in comfort and shade.

Inside the Bentayga’s Hotspur-hide-trimmed cabin, there is a removable transportation perch and tether on the central armrest, and an exquisite example of Mulliner’s skill with marquetry. The sweeping desert scene – featuring a soaring saker falcon – was created using 430 individual pieces of wood sourced from all over the world and hand-crafted over nine days.

Pricing and highlights on the new Camaro ZL1 1LE

The ZL1 1LE — the ultimate Camaro track-day model — leads the 2018 Camaro lineup, taking the track-focused 1LE legacy to an unprecedented level. With racing-based suspension and aero technologies, as well as Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R summer-only tires,* the ZL1 1LE represents the most extreme track-focused Camaro to date.

The new ZL1 1LE Extreme Track Performance Package (order code A1Z) will cost $7,500, bringing MSRP of the 2018 ZL1 1LE to $69,995, which includes the $995 destination freight charge.

“In the long, storied history of Camaro performance, there’s never been another model that matches the capability of the ZL1 1LE,” said Steve Majoros, Chevrolet cars and crossovers marketing director. “With the addition of the new 650-horsepower ZL1 1LE, the Camaro lineup is more diverse and exciting than ever, offering customers the ability to select and personalize their ultimate performance car.”

Additional ZL1 1LE highlights include:

•Downforce-producing aero: Unique features include a carbon fiber rear wing, specific air deflectors and dive planes on the front fascia that produce grip-generating downforce to help the car stick harder and drive faster in turns.

•Adjustable suspension: Racing-derived, lightweight Multimatic DSSV® (Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve) dampers front and rear offer exceptional wheel and vehicle control. The front-end ride height is adjustable, along with the caster geometry. The rear stabilizer bar also offers three-way adjustability.

•Wheels and tires: New, specific lightweight forged aluminum wheels are an inch wider but an inch smaller in diameter, front and rear, than standard ZL1 wheels and are used with new Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires that deliver max lateral grip of 1.10g. The overall footprint grows approximately 10 percent over the ZL1, but the wheel-and-tire package weighs about 3.3 pounds (1.5 kg) less per corner.

•Lighter weight: The lighter wheels and dampers, along with thinner rear glass and a fixed-back rear seat, contribute to an approximately 60-pound (27 kg) lower curb weight than a standard ZL1 Coupe.

•Supercharged performance and more: The power behind the ZL1 1LE is the 650-horsepower, supercharged LT4 engine backed by a six-speed manual transmission featuring Active Rev Match. Brembo brakes are also included, along with dual-zone automatic climate control, Bose premium audio system, heated/ventilated front seats and heated steering wheel.

Adrenaline Fans, here's a few things for you to try in Savoie Mont Blanc

In Annecy, diving company Profil Plongée offers an exclusive free diving camp with the world's vice champion, in Europe's purest natural lake. A native from Savoie, Stéphane Tourreau is the perfect coach to teach breathing, relaxation and posture techniques.

Walking on water is now possible – or almost possible! The aqualine is an aquatic version of the slackline. This fun and challenging activity is organised by Sensations Vanoise in Val Cenis. They have two 12-metre long lines stretched between two points at water level.

In Passy, just below the Chamonix Valley, the guiding company Latitude Canyon organises canyoning by night. Only the abseils under waterfalls, the basins and natural toboggans are illuminated by the guide, thanks to multicoloured diving lights. The other parts of the canyoning circuit are in complete darkness, so participants learn how to orientate themselves at night.

Chamonix Mont Blanc, the world's capital of alpinism, is opening its first via ferrata. Beginning next to the top of the Flégère cable car, the via ferrata Via des Evettes has two parts: first, a via ferrata (with a steel cable), followed by a via cordata. A via cordata is a mixture of hiking, rock climbing and mountaineering, and is the perfect initiation for people who want to get into climbing.

In Aussois, Les Jardins d'Eden circuit combines zip wires, via cordata, and abseiling in the canyon and gorges of the Arc river, just under the spectacular Fort Victor-Emmanuel.

Amazing Homes: Gothic Church Turned Family Home in Kensington

Located on Statford Road, Kensington, sits a spectacular six-bedroom home, which once formed part of the adjoining St. Philip’s Church. The 4,639 sq.ft. property combines original period features of the former church rooms with a modern extension to create a truly unique family home. On the market with leading London estate agents Russell Simpson and Henry & James, 62 Stratford Road is available for £7.5 million.

Dating back to 1857, St. Philip’s Church was built to meet the demand of a growing, largely middle-class, population in Kensington. The originally Orthodox (now Anglican) church is designed in the Gothic style, consisting of largely yellow brick, stone dressings and slate roofs. The church was extended in 1863 to serve yet more inhabitants, with the additional buildings – now the home at number 62 – veering closer to a Perpendicular arhcitectural style (the final phase of Gothic).

The church extension was considered a luxury addition featuring Caen stone, alabaster, ornate Gothic sedilia, and blank arcading, with the exterior carved with foliage. The additional space comprised the Vestry, Prayer Room and Lady Chapel - a traditional term for a chapel dedicated to "Our Lady", the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Rolls-Royce Ghost Seoul Edition and Rolls-Royce Wraith Busan Edition

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars celebrate over a decade of cordial ties with South Korea with the unveiling of a ‘Bespoke Collection for Korea’ at the British Embassy in Seoul.

The Bespoke Collection, the first of its kind for the marque in the country, embraces the aesthetic heritage of South Korea with a contemporary flare true to the sophistication and dynamism of the country's largest cities of Seoul and Busan, from which the cars take their inspiration.

The two tailor-made cars are as individual as the cities they represent: flying the flag for Seoul in national colours is the world's foremost business sedan Rolls-Royce Ghost, whilst for the southeastern metropolis of Busan the canvas is the ultimate Grand Tourer Rolls-Royce Wraith, playing to the leisure-orientated lifestyle of the coastal city. Seoul has been home to Rolls-Royce since 2004, with the marque’s second showroom in Busan joining the Rolls-Royce family in September last year.
