The Ultra-Slim 24 MP Leica M10 Digital M Rangefinder Camera
The performance gap between high-end smartphones and dedicated cameras is narrowing but the current ability for a phone to match the performance of a standalone camera is still a long way off. Even with the addition of external lenses to a smartphone and dedicated software, high-end cameras still come out way ahead, simply due to superior image quality. I might be a little biased being the owner of a Leica camera, but, I do also own a high-end iPhone and although both produce high-quality images at first glance, the differences become more obvious when used in our online and print articles.

In creating the Leica M10, the company listened to the feedback from photographers working with film-based Leica M systems. Based upon this feedback, the M10 was created to reflect the compact design of its analogue predecessors, and is at the same time, the slimmest digital Leica M ever produced.

Métiers d’Art Copernicus celestial spheres 2460 RT is a collection inspired by Nicolas Copernicus and the history of the great astronomical discoveries

Vacheron Constantin’s master-artisans are quintessential artists endowed with the unique gift of stirring emotions. Through the creation of authentic artworks, their spirit of innovation and their exceptional skills have been perpetuated from generation to generation since 1755.

This artistic mastery is fully expressed through the new Métiers d’Art Copernicus celestial spheres 2460 RT collection. The Manufacture has chosen the formal simplicity of a white gold case to set the scene for the astronomical world according to Nicolas Copernicus. With its original display and spectacular decoration, this new collection presented at SIHH 2017, pays tribute to one of humankind’s greatest discoveries: heliocentrism.

First production Avatar debuts at Performance Car Show
After unveiling the prototype in 2016, British sports car company Avatar is presenting the first production Avatar at the 2017 Performance Car Show, held at the Birmingham NEC on 12-15th January 2017. Now fully certified, the Devon-based firm has developed the prototype, making over 100 refinements to offer a 250bhp sports car that is now equally at home on road or track.

The 695kg Avatar retains the high-quality componentry such as the Ford Ecoboost engine, Nitron dampers and Rota wheels that deliver 0-60mph in four seconds and a top speed of 145mph and adds a leather interior, heated screen together with other features to broaden the appeal. New no-cost options now include an Apple CarPlay + Android Auto audio system, roof, heater and air conditioning.

“After showing the prototype we realised that our customers wanted more. We listened and have responded to our customers who loved the superb performance and fine handling but wanted more refinement and features so they could use the car for more than just track days,” says Avatar Sports Cars director Dylan Popovic. “We’ve smoothed the raw edges to create a much more rounded package. We’ve changed the suspension geometry, adjusted the steering rack ratios and improved the ergonomics in the cabin with intuitive switchgear as well as developed features that make the car a delight on the road and track.”

Alongside the 2.0 turbocharged Ecoboost engine, Avatar is also offering a 2.3l 350bhp option that sees 0-60 times cut to just 3.6 seconds with the Ford Focus RS-engined derivative using a six-speed transaxle. Drivers seeking a more frenetic shifting experience can opt for a paddle-shift operated seven-speed sequential Quaife gearbox.

Online reservations for the first 95 XSR900 Abarth bikes opens soon
If you want to be among the first to own the exciting new factory-built XSR900 Abarth, we strongly recommend that you set your smart phone alarm for 16.00 hours UK time on 17th January 2017 - because that's when Yamaha's dedicated online registration system for the first 95 units goes live.

Due to arrive in Yamaha dealer showrooms in April 2017, this exclusive, limited edition café racer is the result of a special collaboration with Abarth, one of Italy's most famous automotive brands. Each bike will be individually numbered, and features Abarth logos as well as a range of premium lightweight components and a head-turning new colour scheme.

Powered by Yamaha's torque-rich, 850cc, in-line, 3-cylinder engine that comes equipped with traction control and an assist and slipper clutch, the XSR900 Abarth delivers thrilling acceleration and outstanding performance.

Special equipment includes a suede sports seat with a removable cover, as well as lightweight carbon bodywork and a full Akrapovi? exhaust with titanium double slip-on muffler. And to give this fashionable café racer a sleeker and more compact tail end, final production models will feature a new licence plate holder that's sportier and lighter than the unit seen on the XSR900 Abarth pre-production show model.

Only the first 95 customers will be able to register their online order for the limited edition XSR900 Abarth from 16.00 hours on 17th January 2017. As well as being amongst the first to own this café racer special, each of the 95 online customers - plus a companion - will also be invited to join an exclusive Yamaha VIP Abarth Experience after the purchase has been confirmed with their Yamaha dealer.

Taking place during the Spring-Summer of 2017, these prestigious owner experience events will run between May 1st and June 16th at race circuits in Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Austria and the UK. Each of the 95 Yamaha VIP Abarth Experience pass holders will be given the unique opportunity to join us at one of these exclusive Abarth Days that are designed to introduce motorsport fans to the Scorpion brand's distinctive race-bred philosophy.

During the action-packed Yamaha VIP Abarth Experience you'll have the opportunity to test drive a range of vehicles from the Abarth line-up on the circuit - and you will also be invited to join one of our professional racing drivers for an adrenaline-fueled Abarth racetrack experience!

As well as all of this, you'll also be given the exclusive opportunity to visit Abarth's Turin Headquarter at any time in 2017 by prior appointment, where you can feel the very special Abarth spirit that has been an integral part of motor sport for seven decades!

After the first 95 online registrations and subsequent purchases have been confirmed, the remaining units of the new XSR900 Abarth will be made available through Yamaha motorcycle dealers from spring 2017 onwards.
