Lostwithiel Memory Cafe supports people living with dementia and their carers. Organised by Rotary Club of Lostwithiel with a few regular non-Rotary helpers, the Memory Cafe provides a invaluable free service.

The meetings are on alternate Thursdays and are held in the Oasis rooms at Lostwithiel Community Centre 2pm - 4pm. The Cafe supports people living with dementia and their carers in a happy and friendly environment where guests can take part in stimulating activities involving music, movement and art. Carers can discuss matters of mutual interest and have access to guidance and information.

Tea and cake is provided free of charge to foster the atmosphere where friendship and fun is paramount. Several times during the year they aim to organise outings that are enjoyable, entertaining and fun.

The next meetings are August 30th, September 13th and September 27th.

Contact Martin Austin for more information on 01208 872490 and find out more here http://www.rotary-ribi.org/clubs/page.php?PgID=566737&ClubID=1045

Remember that really amazing poster for the Gin Festival? Well, it was designed by Mick Clough of Handmade Media in Lostwithiel and we thought you might like to know a bit more about him ...

His career started in London as an advertising Art Director, then Head of Art and then Creative Director. He won some awards for his work and was offered the chance of directing a TV commercial that he had co-scripted and storyboarded. Mick then moved into the world of film making, directing TV commercials and corporate videos for international airlines, furniture retailers, theme parks etc.

He now works for a small number of clients who appreciates his capabilities, sense of humour and dedication to producing good work. They also like his prices. Mick doesn't have multiple shiny offices full of hipsters patting each other on the back, so his clients don't have to pay for them.

So if you have a project that involves design for print, logo design, design or words for the web or creative concepts (think they call it blue sky thinking now ) then please give him a call on 0776 4224248.

Lostwithiel Cancer Research Committee presents 'Travels with my Embroidery Needle' with guest speaker Master Embroiderer Owen Davies about his time as an Embroiderer. The event will take place on Wednesday 19th September in the Church Rooms, Lostwithiel.

There will be a talk followed by examples of his work and questions in two sessions:
10.00am - 12.30pm OR 2.00pm - 4.30pm

Owen graduated from the Royal School of Needlework in 1994. He was then invited to work at Hampton Court Palace where he stayed working on commissions. He created the 'Embroidered Knot Garden' classes which were inspired by Hampton Court. In 2003 he was commissioned by the BBC to teach Hilary Kay how to embroider on the William Morris Brilliantly British series. He currently teaches traditional hand embroidery around the country and the world. You might have heard of his book 'The Embroidered Knot Garden'. He also consults for John Lewis partnership.

If you would like to book in for a session, please contact Lucy Jewels by telephone 07973 716435 or email lucymay71@btinternet.com

Lostwithiel Museum: The Biggest Little Museum in Cornwall in Fore Street excels at creating themed window displays, and we have Deborah Clough to thank for thatπŸ₯‡

The current window display is sponsored by Jeff Pearce of +Mellingey House It's all about exploring the Lostwithiel countryside which is very appropriate as Jeff digitally promotes Lostwithiel and the surrounding area excellently and consistently all year round.

The museum window takes us on a walk through history and promotes a new publication called 'Exploring The Lostwithiel Countryside.' This booklet, meticulously written and compiled by Ronnie Puttock, who is a museum volunteer, describes 8 tried & tested local walks which he has personally sampled and detailed for you to enjoy. The booklet is on sale in the museum for just Β£3.

Every inch of Duchy of Cornwall Nursery is crammed with beauty at the moment. Here is just one little corner called The Tunnel which contains a wide selection of hardy and tender shrubs and climbers. A peaceful haven, all you can hear is the slight hum of a machine and footsteps πŸ‘£πŸŒΏπŸŒ΄πŸŒΊπŸ‘£
