After five years of planning and two years of building work, the new retreat centre is finally opening with a weekend of special events. Both days feature tours of the building and a ritual dedication of the centre. The Public Opening on the 28th will include introductions to meditation and a talk by the architects, while the Sangha Opening on the 29th will focus around an opening ritual led by Subhuti.
Both days are free, no need to book.

Led by Maitreyabandhu and Shraddhasiddhi. Explore meditation, practice mindfulness and uncover the imagination. For newcomers, or those in their first two years of practice.

Meditation, mindfulness and Buddhist practice are practical tools for flourishing our life and for helping the best to flourish in the world. Sharing five or ten days with like-minded men and women, in close contact with the natural world – away from the image-glut and information-overload of modern life – will give us the rare chance to uncover the innate depths of our mind. As well as meditation teaching, the programme will include talks on Buddhism, introduction to Buddhist ritual and periods of silence. We particularly recommend that you come for all ten days, but you can also book for the first five days (22nd–27th Dec) or for the second five days (27th Dec–1st Jan).

A great place to meditate, do yoga and learn more about Buddhism. The people here are very warm and welcoming. I go here regularly and would definitely recommend.

On arrival there was about 50 people all in the foyer chatting loudly. It felt like the tube (which I rarely use for obvious reasons). We were then accosted for Just Giving details Everyone was very noisy and chatty. The introduction meditation was good and nicely paced. I wasn't so sure about the carpets - wood/tiles etc are probably better. I was attending because I have been to many many monasteries throughout India, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Japan, Thailand... never Britain I am not sure if my review is misplaced because this is a 'Buddhist Centre' and not a Monastery/Temple ...but why couldn't it be? I can't see why people can't be asked to be quieter when entering the gate. Greeted more calmly and informatively at the desk. Take (a jasmine) tea break in the meditation rooms to prevent disrupting the 'environment' created by the first part. It was just a bit 'Headspace' app for me. Not very moving as the monasteries in the East always are. A shame as it would not take a lot. I find meditation in the calm and quiet of my home more effective at the moment. I will go again to see if this wasn't just an unfortunate one off.

One of not many places in London where people are nice to each other. You feel welcome from the first eye contact there. There is amazing atmosphere which allowed you to get inside of yourself. I've tried yoga and meditation. I thought I'm not able to meditate with such a thoughts mixer in my head but surprise , surprise I did it !!! So pleased that my friend recommended to me. Amazing place 🌻

I really enjoyed the Buddha day a year ago, the talk was just excellent, fascinating with real world examples and little anecdotes from a real world practitioner! I would highly recommend the talks on youtube as well if you can't make it. Great bunch keep it up.
