It's that time of year again. Starlings are back in Brighton but they are bit fragmented. There are separate murmurations on the east and west side of Brighton Pier and one above the West Pier. They start flocking 20 minutes before sunset and stop shortly after. So today they will start at 16:04. #starlings #nature #murmuration #brighton #westpier

The British Airways i360 at dusk on one of the lowest tides of the year. Getting the combination of really low tide and dusk / sun set only happens about twice a year. #brighton #britishairwaysi360 #bai360

British Airways i360 by night. At night the pod parks itself 20m from it's top position with its underside lights off. It's worth taking a wander down there after it closes and just watching the reflection on the bottom. It's not open more info: http://britishairwaysi360.com/ ‪#‎i360‬ ‪#‎brightoni360‬ ‪#‎britishairwaysi360‬ ‪#‎brighton‬ ‪#‎architecture‬

One of my favorite Publishers Café Royal books just started selling an edition of 500 Martin Parr Books. Looks like a wicked little publication and sound investment: http://www.caferoyalbooks.com/#/yatess-martin-parr-090616-700/

The West Pier has been illuminated for it's 150th anniversary. It's been pretty groovy slowly changing colors. If you are close by you until midnight tonight (Friday the 7th Oct) to see it. #westpier #i360 #brighton #brightoni360

Never gets old! Dave Sawyers doing fish face again. Dave is a legend in Brighton swimming club check more pictures of him on Flickr here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/lomokev/tags/daveSawyers/

Dave insisted on doing this again because in my previous attempts at shooting this the fish had not been close enough together. People on instagram did not seem to bothered by the fishes spacing in previous images.

My souvenirs from this weeks Impossible HQ's I-type camera launch event. The black and white image was shot on a constant lighting studio setup and the colour one was just a selfie I shoot which looks close to what you get with an SX70 and old Polaroid film.
Impossible are the folks behind the resurrection of Polaroid film, this week they launched their first camera after talking over some of Polaroid's manufacturing in 2008. By it's self the Impossible I-type is impressive, it has inferred auto focus and LED reing ring flash. But pair it with an iPhone via bluetooth and you can take full control though an app which also has creative modes like light painting and double exposure. Unlike other Polaroid cameras it has it's own battery which means you can use Impossible's new bateryless film packs which are more environmentally friendly and cheaper than the normal Impossible film. Check it out on the Impossible Projects website (https://uk.impossible-project.com/collect…/impossible-i-type).

Fox Talbot: Dawn of the Photograph at the London Science Museum’s Media Space is a perfect marriage between Photography and Science. It tells the story of Fox Talbot who is one of the pioneers of Photography though his work and the work of his peers. If you like your photography old school and I'm talking 1830s onwards this exhibition is for you: http://lomokev.com/blog/fox-talbot-dawn-photograph-london-science-museums-media-space/

Also on in London right now are two Martin Parr  Exhibitions: http://lomokev.com/blog/category/martin-parr-2/

Story
Tagline
I take photos, Teach other people how to take photos and Write about taking photos.
Introduction
I am not what most people would consider to be an average photographer. Armed with a selection of compact film cameras, I never leave home without one and I am always ready to capture anything that happens around me. I always have on going projects witch I am always adding weather it be my photographs of Brighton swimming club (http://goo.gl/9M8JE), montage portraits (http://fragmentedportraits.tumblr.com/) or Festival Wellies photos on Flickr (http://goo.gl/AX68a).

In October 2008 my first solo book Hot Shots (http://goo.gl/GWPj6) was released in the UK, it sold out its UK and US print runs in under a year.  It is an instructional book for everyday people and is intended to help them sex up their photography, without being too bogged down in technical jargon. Since then I have written a 2nd book Photo Op (US title) / 52 Photographic Projects (UK title) (http://goo.gl/zomTD). This book goes more in depth in to 52 different photo graphic techniques. I have a passion for passing on my knowledge of photography and regularly teach photography courses (http://goo.gl/GJeSI). At the start of 2011 my 3rd book Toy Cameras (http://goo.gl/6J0Fp) was published, this book is lists 40 different toy cameras and lists the quirks.

I have also had work published in two Lomo photographic books, one called "Spirit" and the other, "Don't Think Just Shoot." My work has also featured in a range of publications including Photo Pro Magazine, DSLR user magazine, Olympus User Magazine, Russian Esquire, Sonntagszeitung, and the BBC news website. I was a regular contributor to JPG magazine from when it first launched in 2005. In 2006 I was on the panel of judges in New York for flickr.com's "Blink of the Eye" photo competition and judged again in 2008 for pixish.com's "The SXSW Gallery Show" competition. I work commercially as a photographer for a range of different clients which have included Phillips, The Times, The Commonwealth Games 2002, Dr Martens, Stomp, Dell and Imogen Heap.

Me and my wife have been going to the Sukhothai Palace at least once every 2 weeks for getting on for 6 years and I can't fault it. We manly take advantage of the cheep meal deal which is £5-£7 depending on weather you have meat or prawns (there is a vegetarian option to but such things do not concern me). For the £5-£7 you get a starter and main, you have to order before 5 to take advantage of the meal deal. I always go for the Prawn toast and Pad Cashew with Pork. There is a covered out door area as well which is great in the summer. We have also been a few times in the evening and fond it most agreeable. If you are coming to Brighton for the weekend you definitely need to have you lunch at this place, it's a Brighton institution in my mind.

The guys in the vault are really friendly and knowledgeable, i've been using them for getting on for 10 years. I use them for everything from large format prints and mounting to scanning. They scanned all the artwork to high standard for all the books I have ever published. Keeping film alive in Sussex you have to respect them for that.

Quote possibly one of the one of the best burgers I have had in my life. After having one I ordered another and scoffed the 2nd down. The guys that run this place are super passionate about what they do. The mince there one locally sourced beef + all there other ingredients are locally sourced to which is all good. Will definitely be visiting this place more often.

Dead friendly service and by far the best full English on breakfast in Brighton possibly Sussex. There home made soups are also off the hook. Even there toast is a amazing due the use of farm made locally sourced butter!
