London weather is not that great this weekend so it's a good time to check out 'Revelations Experiments in Photography' at +Science Museum's Media Space. It's a photographic exhibition of Science photography and also explores how science photography has influenced contemporary photography. http://lomokev.com/blog/revelations-experiments-in-photography-at-the-science-museums-media-space/
Revelations Experiments in Photography is an exhibition of photography that spans contemporary work through to images from the dawn of photography.

The Brighton i360 site was pretty busy this weekend. They poured 2500 tonnes of concrete into the foundations of the tower. It took 12 hours with a cement truck turning up every 5 minutes. I shot this time-lapse as well as still images, to see more take a look at this blog post: http://lomokev.com/blog/pictures-and-time-lapse-of-brighton-i360s-foundation-pouring/

Shot this time-lapse on Thursday of a barge loaded with the with parts of the Brighton i360 and it's jacking tower landing on Brighton beach. Over the course of a few hours it was unloaded onto the beach by a whopping 100m crane. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfju8DiUIDc

There has been a bit of crane off at the Brighton i360 site today and there is definitely clear winner. The 100m crane is there to pick up segments off the Brighton i360 tower from barges that will start to land on the beach on Thursday morning and will be there for 2 days. If you are around on Thursday / Friday it will be well worth taking a look.

Few days ago my friend Simon Cooke attempted the coldest channel swim ever. The water was meant to be 11-12 °C (51.8-53.6 °F) but unfortunately he kept hitting patches that where 8 °C (46.4 °F) which meant he got to cold and and had to abort the swim 5 hours in. Gutted for him but at least his is alright. He attempted the swim for a local charity Amaze and has kept his fundraising page open as should because 5 hours in water that cold is damn good effort! https://www.justgiving.com/Simon-CookeWorldRecord/

Simon Cooke is about to embark on an incredible record breaking journey. Next week he will be on standby to swim the English channel earlier than anyone has done before, this will mean his swim will be colder than any cross channel swim before him around 11-12 °C (51.8-53.6 °F). He is a fellow member of Brighton Swimming club and has been in training for over a year doing 6 hour sea water training sessions, in comparison at this time of year (May) I swim for 20-30 minutes before I get really cold. He is raising money for a local Charity Amaze which gives information, advice and support to parents of children with disabilities in Brighton & Hove. You can donate to his Simon Cooke's fundraising page here: https://www.justgiving.com/Simon-CookeWorldRecord/

Like most Brighton Swimming Club members I have shot him is few times although he can’t seem to stop himself pulling silly faces, see more images of Simon below you can also see more of my images of Brighton Swimming Club in this portfolio: http://lomokev.com/blog/simon-cookes-record-breaking-coldest-charity-channel-swim/

After a little tutorial from +Conor MacNeill Photography in astrophotography I decided to do a Astro Time-lapse. This was shot over an hour. The exposures were 10 seconds long and were triggered by a +Triggertrap every 11 seconds, the movie plays back at 12 frames a second.

I shot this while at the Snap Photography Festival teaching a time-lapse workshop, you can find out how my workshop went in my latest blog post: http://lomokev.com/blog/time-lapse-workshop-at-the-snap-photography-festival/

Music is by General Fuzz its called "Eye Heart Not" listen to his music on his website here: http://www.generalfuzz.net/

I take photos, Teach other people how to take photos and Write about taking photos.
Introduction
I am not what most people would consider to be an average photographer. Armed with a selection of compact film cameras, I never leave home without one and I am always ready to capture anything that happens around me. I always have on going projects witch I am always adding weather it be my photographs of Brighton swimming club (http://goo.gl/9M8JE), montage portraits (http://fragmentedportraits.tumblr.com/) or Festival Wellies photos on Flickr (http://goo.gl/AX68a).

In October 2008 my first solo book Hot Shots (http://goo.gl/GWPj6) was released in the UK, it sold out its UK and US print runs in under a year.  It is an instructional book for everyday people and is intended to help them sex up their photography, without being too bogged down in technical jargon. Since then I have written a 2nd book Photo Op (US title) / 52 Photographic Projects (UK title) (http://goo.gl/zomTD). This book goes more in depth in to 52 different photo graphic techniques. I have a passion for passing on my knowledge of photography and regularly teach photography courses (http://goo.gl/GJeSI). At the start of 2011 my 3rd book Toy Cameras (http://goo.gl/6J0Fp) was published, this book is lists 40 different toy cameras and lists the quirks.

I have also had work published in two Lomo photographic books, one called "Spirit" and the other, "Don't Think Just Shoot." My work has also featured in a range of publications including Photo Pro Magazine, DSLR user magazine, Olympus User Magazine, Russian Esquire, Sonntagszeitung, and the BBC news website. I was a regular contributor to JPG magazine from when it first launched in 2005. In 2006 I was on the panel of judges in New York for flickr.com's "Blink of the Eye" photo competition and judged again in 2008 for pixish.com's "The SXSW Gallery Show" competition. I work commercially as a photographer for a range of different clients which have included Phillips, The Times, The Commonwealth Games 2002, Dr Martens, Stomp, Dell and Imogen Heap.

Me and my wife have been going to the Sukhothai Palace at least once every 2 weeks for getting on for 6 years and I can't fault it. We manly take advantage of the cheep meal deal which is £5-£7 depending on weather you have meat or prawns (there is a vegetarian option to but such things do not concern me). For the £5-£7 you get a starter and main, you have to order before 5 to take advantage of the meal deal. I always go for the Prawn toast and Pad Cashew with Pork. There is a covered out door area as well which is great in the summer. We have also been a few times in the evening and fond it most agreeable. If you are coming to Brighton for the weekend you definitely need to have you lunch at this place, it's a Brighton institution in my mind.

The guys in the vault are really friendly and knowledgeable, i've been using them for getting on for 10 years. I use them for everything from large format prints and mounting to scanning. They scanned all the artwork to high standard for all the books I have ever published. Keeping film alive in Sussex you have to respect them for that.

Quote possibly one of the one of the best burgers I have had in my life. After having one I ordered another and scoffed the 2nd down. The guys that run this place are super passionate about what they do. The mince there one locally sourced beef + all there other ingredients are locally sourced to which is all good. Will definitely be visiting this place more often.

Dead friendly service and by far the best full English on breakfast in Brighton possibly Sussex. There home made soups are also off the hook. Even there toast is a amazing due the use of farm made locally sourced butter!
