United Nations of Photography interview with Jim Mortram. He is doing such important work and this needs to seen. http://unitednationsofphotography.com/2016/01/20/video-interview-with-jim-mortram/
Jim Mortram told the UNP in 2012 that “If it wasn’t for the people in the project, my camera would just be an expensive paperweight”. The 40-year-old photographer who lives and works just outside D...

It's that time of year again. If want to check out the Brighton's  starling murmurations head down to the Pier 20 minutes before sunset which for the next few days is around 16:20.

Before the onset of the rough winter seas the Swim Area boys are removed from the sea so they are not washed away and only the most hardcore carry on swimming so they're not really needed. I'm building up a nice collection of swim area pis check out this set on Flickr which is just the tip of the iceberg: https://www.flickr.com/search/?sort=date-taken-desc&safe_search=1&text=swimareabuoy&user_id=40962351%40N00&view_all=1

Matilda my 5 year old has been using a Nikon Coolpix S32 for 9 months. Its simple robust and small, which I think makes it the ultimate kids camera. If you want to know why I think it's so great read my review here: http://lomokev.com/blog/nikon-coolpix-s33-s32-review-the-ultimate-camera-for-children/
The Nikon Coolpix s33 s32 is a waterproof, cheep compact camera that is an ideal first camera for a child. With help of my daughter I’ve written a review.

Hopefully I am preaching to the converted but still hear of people that don't backup their digital photos. If you do not have a good backup strategy you can read about mine in my latest blog post: http://lomokev.com/blog/photo-library-lightroom-library-backup-guide/. Seeing as it's t's new year it's a good time to get you photo library organised, I’ve  written a guide to that to: http://lomokev.com/blog/organising-a-photo-library-with-lightroom/
Entrusting your precious photo library with Family memories and commercial work to one fragile hard drive is insanity, better to hedge your bets a bit with multiple backups. Backing up a large photo library can be a headache, this guide will help.

Cool guide!
I quite like the Google Photos backup thing.
For big stuff there's a new backup service from French company HubIC offering 10TB a month for €10 or £3.75, I've read that they want be like Dropbox and are releasing apps for all OSs and a good API for custom apps.
Thanks to +Mark Normansell for backup help 🙋

This all weather 3G enabled, solar powered time-lapses camera from Enlaps looks awesome. I can tell you from experience an all weather battery time-lapse solution based on a low end DSLR can cost between £750 - £900 once you have all the accessories. If the image quality is good £250 is a steel. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/885592927/enlaps-world-1st-unlimited-time-lapse-photography

Introduction
I am not what most people would consider to be an average photographer. Armed with a selection of compact film cameras, I never leave home without one and I am always ready to capture anything that happens around me. I always have on going projects witch I am always adding weather it be my photographs of Brighton swimming club (http://goo.gl/9M8JE), montage portraits (http://fragmentedportraits.tumblr.com/) or Festival Wellies photos on Flickr (http://goo.gl/AX68a).

In October 2008 my first solo book Hot Shots (http://goo.gl/GWPj6) was released in the UK, it sold out its UK and US print runs in under a year.  It is an instructional book for everyday people and is intended to help them sex up their photography, without being too bogged down in technical jargon. Since then I have written a 2nd book Photo Op (US title) / 52 Photographic Projects (UK title) (http://goo.gl/zomTD). This book goes more in depth in to 52 different photo graphic techniques. I have a passion for passing on my knowledge of photography and regularly teach photography courses (http://goo.gl/GJeSI). At the start of 2011 my 3rd book Toy Cameras (http://goo.gl/6J0Fp) was published, this book is lists 40 different toy cameras and lists the quirks.

I have also had work published in two Lomo photographic books, one called "Spirit" and the other, "Don't Think Just Shoot." My work has also featured in a range of publications including Photo Pro Magazine, DSLR user magazine, Olympus User Magazine, Russian Esquire, Sonntagszeitung, and the BBC news website. I was a regular contributor to JPG magazine from when it first launched in 2005. In 2006 I was on the panel of judges in New York for flickr.com's "Blink of the Eye" photo competition and judged again in 2008 for pixish.com's "The SXSW Gallery Show" competition. I work commercially as a photographer for a range of different clients which have included Phillips, The Times, The Commonwealth Games 2002, Dr Martens, Stomp, Dell and Imogen Heap.

Me and my wife have been going to the Sukhothai Palace at least once every 2 weeks for getting on for 6 years and I can't fault it. We manly take advantage of the cheep meal deal which is £5-£7 depending on weather you have meat or prawns (there is a vegetarian option to but such things do not concern me). For the £5-£7 you get a starter and main, you have to order before 5 to take advantage of the meal deal. I always go for the Prawn toast and Pad Cashew with Pork. There is a covered out door area as well which is great in the summer. We have also been a few times in the evening and fond it most agreeable. If you are coming to Brighton for the weekend you definitely need to have you lunch at this place, it's a Brighton institution in my mind.

The guys in the vault are really friendly and knowledgeable, i've been using them for getting on for 10 years. I use them for everything from large format prints and mounting to scanning. They scanned all the artwork to high standard for all the books I have ever published. Keeping film alive in Sussex you have to respect them for that.

Quote possibly one of the one of the best burgers I have had in my life. After having one I ordered another and scoffed the 2nd down. The guys that run this place are super passionate about what they do. The mince there one locally sourced beef + all there other ingredients are locally sourced to which is all good. Will definitely be visiting this place more often.

Dead friendly service and by far the best full English on breakfast in Brighton possibly Sussex. There home made soups are also off the hook. Even there toast is a amazing due the use of farm made locally sourced butter!
