The "Thomas Monopoly" Google account cutoff case was triggered by the erroneous automatic identification of material as possible c-porn.

Google has now restored the affected account and data. Given U.S. laws that cover such situations, it seems clear that Google behaved appropriately in this matter throughout its course. Thomas Monopoly (Dylan M.) appears to essentially agree in a posting he made today:

The implications of that are a bit disturbing to me. (I presume it had to be trained…)
I'm thinking I may want to disable comments after this one (sorry, +Sai .) - not really an area of my expertise and I feel uneasy having a discussion about this in public (as I would just about any legally sensitive issue).
