Welp, it's been a long run with the Google Apps account. But I'm migrating back to my regular personal account.

Hopefully the G+ transition works alright. Probably one of 3 people that have actually transferred personal->apps->personal... haha.

Although, why does this take a week....

tbf, the process is technically 48hrs... it just doesn't start for a week. I guess they want to give you "sleep on it" time.

But yeah, when I get a "it'll take 3-4 days to unsub" a mailing list, I am curious what they have to do

Well, damn, more stratosphere jumps...

Google exec jumps from stratosphere, breaks world record
"For a little over two hours, the balloon ascended at speeds up to 1,600 feet per minute to an altitude of 135,908 feet, more than 25 miles. +Alan Eustace dangled underneath in a specially designed spacesuit with an elaborate life-support system. He returned to earth just 15 minutes after starting his fall.

[...]

Mr. Eustace cut himself loose from the balloon with the aid of a small explosive device and plummeted toward the earth at a speeds that peaked at more than 800 miles per hour, setting off a small sonic boom heard by observers on the ground."

Holy crap.

This is some pretty amazing work. Good ol' Doom!
Back in 1993, I was 17 years old when my mind was blown by id's DOOM. It was like nothing I had ever seen before and it changed my life. By the time I was in college, I had it on my PlayStation, and it was the first time I was able to really play. It was the best game to play for my budding ...

I find this completely hilarious. Particularly at 1:43 and 3:50 .

"On the rise for radiation!"

The industry is opposed to using teaspoons so consumers can understand... I say we take this opportunity to switch to the metric system.

+Pokemarky 1m does not equal 1mm or 1 micrometer, those are totally different lengths.

Measuring in metric is much easier than in imperial because you don't have to remember how many inches in a foot or in a yard or whatever because everything in metric is base 10. You also don't have to swap between measurement systems when doing or researching science. Also, what measurement is under an inch (in imperial)?

Decimal time measurement is not a thing anymore, it will not recur.

well, fuck =/ At least it was unmanned and no reported injuries

Rocket explodes after liftoff

JUST IN: Orbital Sciences Corp.'s unmanned Antares rocket exploded shortly after liftoff in Virginia.

"There is no indication there are any personnel in danger," it was announced during NASA's livestream.

Follow updates: http://www.breakingnews.com/topic/nasas-antares-rocket-explodes/

(This update was edited to clarify it was Orbital Sciences Corp.'s rocket. NASA is paying the company to keep the International Space Station stocked.)
NASA's unmanned Antares rocket exploded moments after liftoff on Oct. 28, 2014. It was set to launch a day earlier but was scrubbed when a sailboat entered the range.

So... I have a feeling I might get fired if I tried this :)  Or stung to death, one or the other.

Welp, I'm starting to regret switching to an Apps account. Blast wanting to bypass using an @ gmail account.

Interesting... though, it sounds like they're adding yet ANOTHER reminders function and "to-do ish" list.

Wait, this is in real beta... on the desktop, it's only available for Chrome. Bad form Google... unless you roll out other browser support faster.  Feels like we're going full circle on the whole web browser thing.

So "support our troops" doesn't include supporting the support?

For whatever it's worth. "Support our troops" is really just a catchy phrase thrown around to make people feel good about themselves. We don't seem to give a shit about our troops.

"Thank you for your service" is another phrase thrown around to make us feel good.  And we should really be closing with "and I'm sorry our society has screwed you over since your return."
