At what point does use of black vernacular become a literary trick?
Read this interesting post by +Troy W.
This post is about my story in Long Hidden, so I'll begin it with a plug: Long Hidden is out and available for purchase. You can get it on Amazon in paperback, for Kindle, and for Nook. Plea...

Ursula K. Le Guin said this:
"I think it is possible that a good many readers never even notice what color the people in the story are. Don't notice, maybe don't care. Whites of course have the privilege of not caring, of being 'colorblind.' Nobody else does."

Hi +Wanda Phillips. Its easy, I think, if you are what appears to be the norm to simply accept that as being the case. It's the nature of the world in which we live. The great thing is that we are now much more aware, if we chose to be, and have the option of not accepting the status quo anymore.

I make it my business to write the types of stories I'd want to read. I don't want to see entire groups of people erased from existence from forgetfulness and whitewashing.
"The publishing industry looks a lot like these best-selling teenage dystopias: white and full of people destroying each other to survive."

My favorite three are on the list and at the top.
And I have a hard time choosing the best out of The Last of Us, Mass Effect trilogy, and The Walking Dead. I would play Mass Effect a million times over though...and I have tried. :-)
A good story in a game is paramount to my desire and ability to finish it. I am surprised though that Dragon Age didn't make it. This does make me interested in checking out the Halo series though.
I would say that any game or game series that has accompanying literature is likely to have a strong story behind it. I actually enjoyed the Mass Effect novels written my Karpyshyn. The last one was ridiculous and had another author.
Remember folks, not every game you like will make it on the list, and remember that just because you like it doesn't mean that it has a good an plausible story.
Happy New Year!

Before you read this try to guess some of the emergency uses of a tampon. Some these are amazing. I mean really, they'll blow your mind and make you see these nasty cotton sticks in a whole new light.
Are you writing a zombie story? If so this is some good stuff!
Do me a favor for the next five minutes.  Try to forget everything you know about tampons.  I know, it’s hard.  But pretend that this is the first time you have ever seen or heard of the item below, and it is a new survival product on the market: the Tactical Adventure Medical Preparedness Outdoors…

How to respectfully write from the perspective of characters that aren't you.

Lennie James, the actor who plays Morgan in TWD is a heavy hitter and an impressive actor. I'd love to see him back and I think he'd add some real depth to the show. That said, if they stay true to the comic, which they do only about half the time, and they bring him back now, it'll be a short lived reunion.

I was thrilled to see him as Morgan too. Even though he was on the show for a much shorter time than the actual character in the comic, I think he was much stronger on the show. His last appearance was phenomenal.
