I hate that these fake, PSEUDOREALISTIC cartoons of DNA get used everywhere. EVEN HERE where they are talking about really taking pictures of it! this is the chemical structure of the molecule: which makes you realize that that photoshopped crap above is BS: the ladder is not solid ladder as drawn above, but a crazy long MOLECULE.  http://www.scienceprofonline.org/images/DNA_Structure_Key_Labelled.jpg 

it is so narrow that they had to use electrons instead of light in their microscope because the wavelength of light (gamma rays) you'd have to use would completely destroy the sample.

and to summarize... i hate those cartoons that pretend to be photorealistic. please don't picture DNA like that.

Introduction
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is an international, graduate-level research university dedicated to inspiring a new age of scientific achievement in the Kingdom, in the region, and around the globe. As an independent, merit-based institution, KAUST’s pioneering matrix structure of academic divisions and interdisciplinary research centers enables top researchers from around the globe and across all cultures to work together to solve challenging scientific and technological issues.
