In the documentary Collapse, Michael Ruppert puts an incredibly fine point on the fact that, upon a foundation of finite energy, we have built an economic system that demands infinite growth. He adds ...

great idea to further encourage and make easier conscious consumption...but how do we design for trustworthiness?
If you have an iPhone, you probably know by this point a little bit about the factories where it was made. But what about everything else you own? Supply chains aren’t exactly easy for the average con...

Katie, great link.  As you indicate the glitch is that there is no way as yet of verifying the data that is entered by various people and sources.  But the idea is good.

it's astonishing that we based the modern economy on the rational actor model as it flies in the face of direct experience. one welcome outcome of the ongoing economic crisis is that the theory is pretty much going six feet under.
Dan Little: Amartya Sen's commitments, by Dan Little: A recent post examined the Akerlof and Kranton formalization of identity within a rational choice framework. It is worth considering how this approach compares with Amartya Sen's arguments about "commitments" in "Rational Fools" (link). Sen's essay is a critique of the theory of narrow economic rationality to the extent that it is thought to realistically describe real human deliberative deci...

Yeah, +Wendell Fitzgerald , I'd say that a healthy system must have open access to information. And the best, most valuable information is the unique data that each individual has about their current needs and offers (what we want and what we have to offer). Once we set up a system for collecting and sharing this data, we'll be much healthier as a planet.

media-alchemist bridging from the old story to the new
Introduction

I'm a post-modern mystic, a dreamer, a seer, recovered-therapist and filmmaker, an activist for beauty and transparent communication.  Bundled together, I’m a bridge-builder from the old story to the new.

Have you noticed that the world these days is changing rapidly, profoundly?  We are a global society in what many call The Great Transition. So much of how we used to do things is breaking down, the traditional institutions faltering.  Which also means that a new world - with new ways of seeing, doing and being - is emerging.

The narrative we have been living by is no longer working and we are in the process of weaving a new one.  We get to help illuminate this new story.

And it's about a world built in open-source collaboration and sharing, abundance and love.
