If you’re looking for a small, attractive medieval town that’s not too far from Lisbon, try Óbidos. Most people go there as part of a day trip but I also enjoy the peaceful experience of staying overnight. As well as the various things to see and do in Óbidos itself, there are other attractions nearby including the gorgeous beaches at Foz do Arelho lagoon, so you could consider using it as a base for a longer stay if you have a car. #Portugal #travel #Obidos
Find out what there is to see and do in Óbidos and nearby. This charming medieval town has many architectural and cultural highlights worthy of a day trip.

A part of my “mop up Camino”, I spent 3 days in May walking the Coastal Portuguese Way of St. James from Vila do Conde to Caminha, on my own. I’d already completed a 4-day stint in Galicia between A Guarda and Redondela (where the coastal and central routes merge) so this was my chance to find out what the Portugal section is like. As with my other experiences of walking the Camino, I learned some valuable lessons. #CaminoDeSantiago
Route description: 3 days on the Coastal Portuguese Way Of St. James from Vila do Conde to Caminha via Esposende, Vila Praia de Âncora and Viana do Castelo.

This last installment is actually the first part of the journey for most people walking the central route from Porto to Santiago de Compostela but for various reasons, it was the final leg of a staggered #CaminodeSantiago for Dori and I.
The first two days of the central Portuguese Way of St. James from Mosteiro, near Porto, to Barcelos via Arcos and Rates. Route tips and highlights.

Looking for some unusual #Portuguese #wines to try? You'll find plenty to choose from in wineries near #Lisbon.
Several wineries near Lisbon allow you to do wine tastings and winery tours. Try moscatel wine, Colares wine and special red and white wines from Portugal.

I usually do this funicular journey the other way around to save walking up one of Porto steep hills. Either way, you get great views of the city and the Douro River. Would you like to ride it?
