The earliest reports of surgical suture date back to 3000 BC in ancient Egypt, and the oldest known suture is in a mummy from 1100 BC. A detailed description of a wound suture and the suture materials used in it is by the Indian sage and physician Sushruta, written in 500 BC. The Greek "father of medicine" Hippocrates described suture techniques, as did the later Roman Aulus Cornelius Celsus. The 2nd-century Roman physician Galen described gut sutures. In the 10th century the manufacturing process involved harvesting sheep intestines, the so-called catgut suture, and was similar to that of strings for violins, guitar, and tennis racquets

#3DPrinted Motor Runs Almost Like a Perpetual Machine #3DThursday #3DPrinting
http://www.adafruit.com/blog/2015/01/08/3dprinted-motor-runs-almost-like-a-perpetual-machine-3dthursday-3dprinting/

This is a 3D printed EZ Spin Motor. It turned out being a very clean and nice running build. I also explain how to properly wire up an EZ Spin Motor. This thing would run for a very long time on a 5v super capacitor.

Pro Trinket Smartwatch #WearableWednesday
https://blog.adafruit.com/2015/01/28/pro-trinket-smartwatch-wearablewednesday/

James Chin writes in:

I’ve been working on a new watch recently. It uses the the Trinket Pro to control everything, as well as the RTC from Adafruit. It uses a potentiometer under the OLED screen and a momentary button to control the watch. But what I think is the best part is on the right. There are female headers that allow me to connect multiple “modules” to it, like the LED shown in the picture. So far, I have a white LED, a black light LED, and a switch I don’t know that name of (used to play Pong on my watch). I intend to add a Tv-Be-Gone, an XBee (once I figure out how to use it), an accelerometer, and some analog sensors.
