Earth Day

Seems just last week
We were swinging in some trees
By the time we stood up
We were tall enough to dream
About how to make more and more things
No amount of fire amounts to the mental fire we bring
So we started burning down the forest...

Seems just yesterday
Before "society" came,
We were just barely painting in caves
Could barely picture each other with names
Yet we marched on in the parade
Progress is our PRIVILEGE
And at all costs must be saved
Even if it means killing each other in droves...

Seems just a moment ago
We were only as ageless as stone
Once we held iron though,
We made bats of our own
To knock the ball out from home
Our mother is crying
Because she is dying from all the medals we've shown
Seven billion kids and counting...
