Here also explains more: https://cmsreport.com/articles/2015-wordpress-vs-joomla-vs-drupal-infographic-13720

for simple sites use Wordpress, for more complex use Joomla or Drupal.  The pros and cons also sum it up nicely.  I certainly wouldn't choose Wordpress, but it's my opinion that I'm entitled to, just like you.  I don't want to be limited to a small site (Wordpress), only then having to change to an alternative CMS later.

This link also sums it up nicely: http://www.business2community.com/tech-gadgets/5-practical-differences-joomla-wordpress-0837622#aSzP6JmYb8Sxk1GI.97

The Google Summer of Code Has Begun and Joomla is In!

http://bit.ly/1YNTGrO
University students from many parts of the world will spend the summer break ("winter break" in some countries) writing code and learning about open source development. Joomla! is one of the selected mentoring organizations in Google Summer of Code 2016 (GSoC 2016). Does it mean that students will be coding to make Joomla! even better? Yes! And we invite you all to join us in the GSoC 2016 journey.
