GULP I will show you how to setup a template development environment based on Bootstrap3 in 30 minutes from scratch. We will setup tools like npm, gulp, less, bower. I will show how this is working with version control in Git and as final goodie how we can use bowser sync so that we haven’t to click on refresh at any step in the process. This presentation is not about design it is about the development of a template.

I hope this article can help both you and me. I have been working with Joomla! for some time now, and I've improved my knowledge of it since version 2.5.5. As time went by, I got a job and then went back to college. Joomla! is the best CMS in my opinion, and thanks to it I have already created two personal projects.

JLAYOUT FOR EXTENSION DEVELOPERS
JLayout is the powerful rendering system that is being adopted in the core but not a lot of extensions are using it. Do you know how to use and the advantages it gives you as developer?

This session tries to explain how to use JLayout as the base rendering system for your components, modules, plugins and templates. How to get the maximum layout reusability and why you should adopt it even if your extensions still need to be compatible with Joomla 2.5.x.

Main points:
* Using JLayout. The right way.
* Extending JLayout.
* Using JLayout on Joomla 2.5.x
* Easy migration to JLayout for modules, plugins and templates.
* Using JLayout to render component views.
* Maximum reusability of your layouts.

Sunday after lunch we have Michael Babker with USING LESSONS LEARNED IN JOOMLA TO CREATE UPDATABLE SYMFONY APPLICATIONS
Wait, you're probably thinking "why's he talking about Symfony at a Joomla event!?". I've always been of the belief that open source projects can learn from one another based on the experiences developers gain contributing to them, and that is exactly what is happening here. I've recently spent some time developing Symfony applications which are known for being "developer workflow" oriented; everything from code changes to deployments are at the control of a development team. But what if you're building a distributable application where an end user who might not know what PHP is is in charge of updating the application? In this session, I'll highlight how I've helped to "break the mold" on Symfony application deployments and workflows and share how my experiences in Joomla helped to make this possible.

For several years at J and Beyond a cause is chosen to support that year. This year JAB supports APOPO! They use these specially trained rats and their acute sense of smell to detect landmines and cluster bombs. Their work allows the land to be cleared and be made safe to enjoy once again.

Another of the amazing sessions at JAB that I am looking forward to attending is this GIT tune-up with Roberto Segura. I have been told that once I get my head around it I'm going to just love GIT.
