The bright dancing lights of the aurora are actually collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun that enter the earth's atmosphere. The lights are seen above the magnetic poles of the northern and southern hemispheres. They are known as 'Aurora borealis' in the north and 'Aurora australis' in the south..

This photo was taken in the Great Fairbanks area on of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights

This bull elk was bugling and chasing several cows around. How one male can herd that many females is beyond me. I know a few people on my Facebook page have tried but it doesn't work. My group and I spend about an hour photographing this spectacle.

Anyways I know lead photo tours and workshops to Yellowstone 3 Times of Year. January, June, and September. Each season is unique.

This is a Time Lapse of the Northern Lights. This particular sequence was shoot with the moon light. Most photographers seek the New Moon but with a little moon light you can get a light up foreground. I personally like both option. If anyone is interested in joining us next year here is the link.

My coleader Galactic Images by John Chumack is an expert at night photography and astronomy.

This photo of Bud Olge Place was taken in the Great Smoky Mountains. It is a beautiful place with great wildlife. This is also great in the spring with the Dogwoods in Bloom.

The Noah "Bud" Ogle Place was a homestead located in the Great Smoky Mountains of Sevier County, in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The homestead presently consists of a cabin, barn, and tub mill built by mountain farmer Noah "Bud" Ogle (1863–1913) in the late 19th-century. In 1977, the homestead was added to the National Register of Historic Places and is currently maintained by the Great Smoky Mountains National Park
