Or this one...
“I don’t think science is necessarily incompatible with mystical or spiritual sensibilities. I often weigh them equally in my thinking, which sometimes finds itself into the work.” – Keith Carter -

Biscuit Basin Algae
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Yellowstone National Park 's super heated hot pools and geysers are always fascinating. The vibrant orange colors in this beautiful algae bloom caught my eye one afternoon while exploring around the Biscuit Basin area.

Photography Tip: 1. When shooting around water, and other reflective surfaces, use a circular polarizing filter to remove surface reflection. Without a polarizing filter, the camera would not be able to see down into the intricate details of this steaming hot pool.

2. Get low when shooting landscapes with wide-angle lenses. To make this image work, I had to get down on my belly so that these algae mats were right up close to the camera. The wider the lens the closer you need to get to your subject .

I will be leading another Yellowstone in Winter Photography Workshop this February. This small group field photography adventure is a great opportunity to see the world's first National Park in its quietest season. More details at http://bit.ly/1NKVay2

How do you make a good selection of hair? That's a Photoshop question I get a lot. This movie will help you do that, and it's free for everyone for two more days at http://lynda.com/phototoolsweekly
- Hi, this is Jan Kabili. Welcome to Photo Tools Weekly. Shooting a model against a white backdrop gives you the option to re-image the model against other colored backdrops in Photoshop, or even against a different photo. But first, you have to make a good selection of the model's hair, which can be a challenge, particularly when the do is a curly one like this. So I'd like to share some tips with you about how to get good selections of hair. Ti...

Colloidal Pool
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

The Colloidal Pool shows off its blue heart in the Norris Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park.

Photography Tip: Shoot burst of frames around hot springs and geysers. When you get home look for the frames where your central subject is the most visible through the steam and mist.

A circular polarizing filter is also a huge help when you want to record maximum color saturation in a reflective surface like these incredible hot spring pools.

I will be leading another Yellowstone in Winter Photography Workshop this February. This small group field photography adventure is a great opportunity to see the world's first National Park in its quietest season and to improve your landscape photography skills.
