Are our children more impatient than we were as kids? Has a faster pace of life and advances in technology had a negative impact on kids' concentration spans? Here are some thoughts I've had:
When I was a kid, I was occasionally accused of being impatient. I’ve always thought impatience goes hand in hand with childhood. You are, after all, a pent-up ball of energy and the world is a playground to be explored and explored right this second. Now I am a father, I find myself wondering if …

The other day I accidentally referred to my wife as "mummy". This got me thinking, is it ever acceptable for us parents to refer to ourselves in the third person in this way? I have, therefore, produced some guidelines about when it is acceptable to use the phrase mummy and / or daddy. Take a look and tell me what you think.
It was a rather strange moment. I was sat at my computer, half distracted and I turned round to my wife and said: “And what does mummy think?” At that very moment I realsied how often Mrs Adams and I refer to each other as “mummy” and “daddy.” It’s just second nature in front of …

You've heard of the Motherhood Penalty, but what of the Fatherhood Penalty? This year's Working Families Index, produced by the charity +Working Families, says such a thing exists and may lead to a skills shortage as talented guys increasing leave or downgrade careers to balance work and family life, just as women have for decades..
For a very long time, there’s been discussion and debate about keeping skilled women in the workforce after they become parents. Some new research, however, has shone the light on us fathers and the so-called Fatherhood Penalty. In a nut shell, the research suggests the UK workforce may experience an even bigger skills gap as …

Chicken nuggets have a reputation for being kids' food. How do you make them appeal to us grown ups? Turn them into a katsu curry, that's how! #poweroffrozen
As a busy dad who does his best to feed his family healthy food, chicken nuggets are, frankly, awesome. Made with nothing more than breadcrumbs and chicken and when combined with fresh veg and rice or pasta, they make a very healthy meal. If it’s a particularly busy week with lots of after school activities …

The +Audi UK Q7 is a large, high-end SUV packed full of amazing features. I've just driven one from London to Scotland and back with the family. What was it like and would I feel happy driving my family around in a car with leather seats?
When test driving a car, there’s nothing like going on a road trip. This is exactly what we did with the Audi Q7, taking it from London to Glasgow and back. This is the largest in the Q-range of Audi vehicles and very different to the Q2 which I wrote about last year after its …

We've been the victims of petty crime: someone has stolen some shoes from our front porch. I can laugh at it, but when I thought about it I realised this is just the latest in a long line of similar, petty crimes we've experienced.
Imagine you had the choice of walking off with one of the following items without paying: a large Antler suitcase, £200 worth of kids’ and adults’ Microscooters, a woman’s mountain bike or a pair of old, light tan, men’s brogue shoes and a pair of worn women’s ankle boots. What would you choose? Over recent …

A solid estate-car with all the basics and a competitive price tag. Introducing the +FiatUK Tipo Station Wagon
There I was, one winter’s day casually staring out the window. I was expecting a Fiat Tipo to be delivered and a silver car pulled up outside my house. Sure enough, it was a Tipo, but not what I was expecting at all. The car pulling up at the curb was not only a very …

Like many schools across the land, Helen's was closed on Friday....so we went outside to make the most of it! Here's a 'Snow Day Selfie', linked to the brilliant #MySundayPhoto linky.
As with many schools across the land, Helen’s was closed on Friday thanks to the snowfall. Naturally there was only one thing to do: get outside and play in it. We built a huge snowman and had great fun simply throwing ourselves down any snow covered gradient we could find. We also went sledging, although …

Often dirty, sometimes dangerous and I'd rather my kids played outside. In this blog post, I discuss the perils of soft play.
Where do you stand in the Great Soft Play Debate? Do you love it or avoid it at all costs? I spent a large chuck of yesterday in a soft play centre with Izzy, my four-year-old daughter. It was reasonably quiet and this gave me the opportunity to people watch, look around and figure out …

Winner: Best UK Dad blog 2016. Dad blogger, YouTuber, writer, husband, father, human
Introduction
I'm a married father of two daughters. I've been a stay at home dad (SAHD) since 2011 while my wife works full time.

I started blogging about my experiences as a SAHD in November 2012 at Dadbloguk.com. To my surprise, people starting reading my blog. I was asked to contribute to numerous other publications. Four years later, in November 2016, I won 'Best UK Dad Blog' in the Vuelio Blog Awards.

I am regularly seen in the media commenting on parenting issues. Highlights include appearances in the Sunday Times magazine, Channel 4 television news and the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire Programme.

I write and vlog about all aspects of parenting; family health, education, nutrition, motoring, men's interests and issues, travel, family days out and so on. I also write about lifestyle issues such as men's style and fashion, male grooming, DIY and photography.

I have a particular interest in equalities issues. As a SAHD I am immersed in a world that expects women to do the childcare and housework. I write about the battles I face in this environment and what I believe should be done to make the world fairer for both men and women. Sometimes I do this with humour, sometimes I keep it very serious.

I contribute to a number of publications, both on and off line. Please do take a look at my contributor list if you're interested in what I do. If you represent an organisation that may interest me or my readers, please do get in touch. I regularly work with commercial organisations, charities and not-for-profits.
